I have made many Lego Technic Model sets over the years and this one seems to pack all the characteristics and traits that makes a Lego Technic Model so special. From the realistic scale details to the functionality and playability there is virtually nothing missing to make this the perfect Lego Technic Model. I did have some challenges with the arrangement of the pneumatic tubes but like others mentioned it just requires extra concentration and studying the directions. Once finished it was a great feeling to see everything function properly. Great job again on this one Lego! Highly recommend!
This was given as a gift to a 13 year old who suffered terrible damage to his legs in a boating accident. He was thrilled to receive this lego set and even sent me a picture of the completed piece. it looked amazing.
U will not regret this thing it is awesome experience building it and playing with my kids with it! The bold is solid and it handles little hands playing with it good! Thee thing that is maybe a draw back abit is the wheels don't t have the locking Lego pieces and there is no room for them on the axle Lego part, but otherwise is manageable! Get this set u won't regret it!
As others have said, building this set can be difficult, especially when connecting the pneumatic tubes. This can be difficult for some, but Technic fans who want a challenge are most likely to be pleased. Aside from the complex pneumatics, the build is quite straightforward and I've found it to be very enjoyable overall. The finished set has interesting mechanisms, clever details and it looks phenomenal when compared to a real-life John Deere 948L-II, especially considering its scale and the fact that it is a Technic set (i.e. looks are secondary to functionality). I positively recommend it. Thank you LEGO for releasing a set of a machine that most people are arguably unfamiliar with , it gives this set additional educational value.
The John Deere - 42136 - set is fantastic, with playability not only for Technic beginners. The use of the small turntable element (parts 99009 and 99010) is practical. Hence, the placement is ideal to deliver the realistic movement of a 9620R John Deere Tractor. I have been around farm equipment my whole life, and John Deere is a gem in the agricultural economy. I am over the moon to see that The Lego Group has released another licensed farming vehicle set. The 42114 - 6x6 Volvo Articulated Hauler - set was a decent build and one mean machine (IRL), though the overall finished product is not among my top ten (or even 20) Technic set. Now, looking a the possibilities for 42136, I see only an open sky of developing from the original. I have a couple of sets, but I am starting with one and will continue to work on adding more over the next couple of months. So far, I have built the set and expanded the trailer–plus a bit of "bedazzling." Overall, this set is near perfection and is now in my top 10 Technic sets. I have attached a photo of the set with a few touches of my own.
My husband completed the Ford GT and we both have to admit how cool that car really is. It almost looks real and almost tough enough to play with after assembly. It DEFINITELY takes your complete FULL attention to put it together! The flowers were not near as tedious to assemble the floral arrangements.
As a kid I always built my own tractors and equipment form our parts bin. My parents surprised me one day with #8281 Mini Tractor. As a kid I loved it as it was the first actual Lego tractor that I had resembling a John Deere. Years later I would buy my first set purchased in a long time… the #42054 Claas Xerion 5000. As a Canadian farmer it didn't quite scratch the itch, as there weren't many tractors of this kind in the area, with most of our tractors being John Deere or Case IH. I enjoyed the build and displayed it proudly nonetheless. Then I saw the release of this set. Having worked on and operated this machine in real life, I was over the moon. I really like all the detail that mirrors the real tractor, classic tan colored seat, the headlights, the articulating point, the Starfire 6000 GPS bubble on the roof sticker. As a kid this would have been a dream, and I'm excited to let my kids play with it one day. As for now it resides in my farm office on display! The only thing I wish they would have included is a little GPS screen like the Claas set had to complete the GPS technology look!
I purchased this for my husband and was not disappointed. It was an intricate challenging build for him. He is a diesel mechanic who specialises in John Deer machinery and he loved that there was so much detail and useful working parts. It was a great build. Highly recommend it.
Lego is a great product that grandkids like to put together. It being discounted makes it even better.
Overall the build experience is really fun up until the last few steps where you build and connect the pneumatic hoses, the instructions are not very clear and building to the instructions ends up with a build under-stress as the hoses are pushing too much back on too few connectors holding the pieces in place and having built every modern pneumatic set and almost all modern technic sets i found this pneumatic assembly the most awkward and the placement for the controls is equally bad. I used the app pdf instructions so being able to zoom didnt help, thinking about it now though perhaps the 3d instructions would help more? But if we're expected to use the printed instructions they remain unclear Having said that if you get past that part the finished build is really good looking and has lots of functions, the 'fake' engine we normally see in smaller sets is a disappointment though
