I love this!!! This is very attractive in person. Looks adorable on my kitchen island. It's very well made and not flimsy at all. I wanted a product that would help me be more consistent in my composting. I found on days when the weather was particularly foul, I was less likely to trek out to the compost pile. So, I started using any old container in the kitchen but in just two or three days, it smelled bad. This is perfect. The carbon filter in the top solves the issue. As I've gotten started using it, I detect no odor whatsoever.
My first time use had a bag inside which might have had a small opening. Juices leaked and we over filled it. I took out the charcoal filters but needed only the round filter to wash it with clean, cold water. Dried it on the porch and by evening everything was ready to be filled again. This kitchen compost container does a fantastic job. Reme. ber to cut up banana peel and large green stems from veggies.
Christmas present for my daughter, she loved it! *Just after ordering I noticed this on the counter of a new friend. . . . she said she has it for years and loves it!
It is exactly what I wanted! It's not too big, not too small. . . To keep the unsightly and maybe odiferous from cluttering your countertop, get one of these!
I have been using a large stainless steel milk pail (from Lehman's years ago) as a "slops bucket". It would begin to give off a foul odor in a few days. It also took up a lot of room. I ordered the composter out much hope for it except it had a lid and took up a lot less room. To my delight, it really works! I only have to empty it when it gets full and with the lid in place. . . no odor! Also. . . no flies.
The counter top compost bin is very nice. Simple, easy to clean and it looks nice in our kitchen. Thank you

My former compost can had no smells escaping but this definitely releases odors. Both filters seem to be installed correctly.
