I was looking for an affordable device to use for streaming videos during bike workouts. An OLED screen was a huge appeal, and the 13.3" size was perfect. So treat this review through that lens.
Coming at this from the Apple ecosystem, I would describe this computer as... janky? at best. Chrome OS is just.. slow? laggy? I mean, the UI is visibly, hilariously laggy. It maybe renders at 10 frames per second when opening windows or going into the app picker. I would describe it as slightly worse than a cheap netbook from the mid-2000s running on those Atom processors.
ChromeOS for entertainment is... technically workable, but again, kind of comically bad. Some apps only work in portrait mode. Netflix starts in landscape mode but when you go into a show's card, or some tabs, it switches into a phone mode (basically a phone portrait view even when in landscape mode). I.. want to believe I have some weird bug? Or edge case? I don't know. Honestly at first as these things happened I wanted to think this was a one-time issue, but as far as I can tell, that's Chrome OS (or Lenovo). There just isn't a YouTube TV app (you can use the webapp).
The keyboard is... workable, but the trackpad is flimsy.
To be honest, for the price, I expected some issues, but not... this. I am keeping the tablet though, because it's the perfect size (very wide screen) and an OLED screen is great. I learned the quirks of each app. The speakers are totally workable. I am amenable to the argument that the equivalent form factor and screen from Apple is the 12.9 M1 iPad, which is like 2.5x the price. Totally! I just kept hearing about how people use these Chromebooks for school and * by god * I don't know how they are able to do it.
