[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great work laptop. The best one I've ever owned. It can multitask without skipping a beat and it has a very nice screen (mine is 400nits) I recommend this to anyone looking for a solidly build business laptop with great battery life. I know they just came out with the Gen10s but the 9s are more than capable and can be found at great deals! This really is a perfect laptop!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one amazing Laptop in a very light and compact form factor. After trying multiple brands and sizes, I was pretty much blown away with the build quality, light weight that I was looking for and just the overall aesthetics of X1 Carbon (9th Gen). Not to mention the customer service which is just one of the reasons everyone should get a Lenovo.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great Size .. Ultra Portable and has a lot of power. I went ahead and did the upgraded RAM to 32 and also 512SSD . The touch screen and Cellular card make this a real great travel friendly notebook. The cellular also supports 5G.. Not that i have 5G coverage but it's good to know it does.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Compact, lightweight, but feels very sturdy and performs like a workhorse. I'm a grad student who needs a machine that can handle complex data analysis programs and large datasets, but is still easily portable and with good graphics for visual design. I've worked with Dell and HP in the past, but switched to Lenovo when my last HP started to have major lags in the OS and even began to physically fall apart because of the poor quality plastic outer materials. This ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the best laptop I've had so far for doing the job. Very worth the investment!
Coming from ThinkPad X220, now X1 Carbon Gen 9, I am ThinkPad customer since 12 years, running Ubuntu only. ThikPad never denied me service as I need it, Linux/Ubuntu did always as expected. To be more X1 specific: I ordered Lenovo standard from shelve, MS pre-installed. Created USB flash ISO for Ubuntu, X1 booted from flash, reconfigured disk (1TB) partitions - I am keeping MS parallel to Ubuntu in case I need MS for some exotic reason - and installed Ubutntu 20 from USB flash drive, booted from disk - DONE. My X1, 10 CPU cores, 16 MB RAM, 5GB WiFi - there is music in it. Installation worked just fine and straight. I am using 25" monitor (X1 integrated HDMI port), wireless logitech keybord&mouse (2x X1 USB-A port) - that's all need to fulfill all my (professional) needs. Context of my work: software developer, using mainly PyCharm (very complex IDE) and all the plug ins what makes the efficiency much higher. There is a lot going on in background - and so I love the X1 performance. The only one think I have 'acclimate' to: the thunderbolt fast execution of tasks - usually symptom that something didn't work well - but that's the not the case on X1, just flash fast. Lenovo is offering warranty extension for 5 years (and some add on options, like service&parts in place, +international, software/hardware hotline and so). I enjoy to purchase this options, to have the best possible situation JUST IN CASE YOU NEED IT. Never happened with my X220 - but you never know. So I hope to have another hassle free 12 years ... then we will see.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second X1. Could not pass up the impressive sale that was on this machine. I replaced an 8 year old Lenovo laptop, this thing is a dream. It is very thin and lightweight. I am impressed by the battery life at this point. I would not discourage anyone with this purchase.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The laptop has a really nice form factor and has a really nice build quality. From my first testing I'm really pleased with the performance. A really nice buy for someone looking for a well built laptop with a small footprint and a nice performance. My only complain is that the fan, while quite, has a high pitch so you can notice it
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The laptop is great it boots up fast and does what I would expect it to except the battery life sucks. I tried to look this up before ordering and could not find any information on it. I saw a seller on another website say the battery life was 17 hours. well so far I can get up to 4 using windows office programs. I wish Lenovo had been more transparent about this. My 6-yr old laptop (Idealpad) also gets 4 hr so no improvement there).
right now I have 3 lenovo thinkpad in my desk. My old T420 still in use for telewoking, an X1 Carbon and a X1 Yoga. This Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 9, with WWAN, 32 GB RAM and 2TB disk is weightless and fastest than any ultrabook available. I only regret that touchscreen was unavailable unless waiting 4 months. But indeed, this is the computer I recommend.
I paid several hundred dollars to add on Vantage Smart Performance, Smart Privacy and a 3-year warranty. Smart Privacy would not run. I called the service number. I spent an hour on chats and phone run arounds and was on hold for 30 minutes before I finally gave up. Smart Privacy still will not run. I have been ripped off.
