Short Review ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 Intel

VintageLaura October 2, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lenovo is known for highest quality technology. The process of selecting devices to compare specs and pricing, purchasing, and delivery with notification of the status has also been exemplary. I love using my new ThinkPad X1 Yoga and docking station! My only complaint is I wish that the display was WQUXGA (3840 x 2400) like the Gen 6 models. I prefer using the TrackPoint over the touch pad, so I appreciate that Lenovo still offers this feature on some of their devices. I love the integrated pen! My work computer is an HP Elite with an external pen, and I sometimes forget to bring it with me when I am presenting. My other frustration with my work computer is I often accidentally hit the power button on the side when I close the screen to go to my next meeting. I do not have that issue with my new Lenovo because the power button is above the keyboard. My work computer gets so hot when I am working away from my desk, I value the dual fans and rear ventilation on my Lenovo when using away from my laptop stand on my desk. I no longer need to use my noisy, heavy cooling pad. Please continue to offer high quality products with these options.

Awesome buy,

AnakinSkywalker June 2, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Its an awesome computer- This is a replacement of my older yoga. This is a great configuration and a great price. I really love how easy it was to transition all my data from my old computer. The newer features such as compartmentalization of school, work and home is a great feature. I would have loved it they had a black version, but the storm gray is good alternative.

The X1 Yoga is perfect for pros on the go

TylerG22 July 30, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't say enough about the X1 Yoga laptops from Lenovo. As an engineer working in the construction field, I'm frequently bouncing around from my office to various job sites. The X1 Yoga allows me to carry only one device all day, as a laptop connected to a dock at my desk and as a tablet while out in the field. The ability to always have all of my programs and documents on me and easily accessible has been a game changer and I can't imagine going back to a traditional laptop or tablet. The X1 Yoga is also able to function as a gaming laptop for when I'm trying to wind down. I am very impressed with the versatility and power of this laptop, I can't recommend it enough!

Exactly what I needed

Graham Ard July 30, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all I won it with the amount of points I could have traded for a computer mouse, it's hands down better than my Alienware laptop I'm sad to say, which I loved for decades, if you're on the fence jump off they're easily worth what I would have spent..

Go with the Think Pad

Corporate Guy December 25, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had two other laptops since my last ThinkPad. A new executive we hired sensed my frustration and recommended I go back to Lenovo. I did and will never leave. I could have saved so much time! Top Notch. Thank you! PS - I don't normally write recommendations.

A few quirks, but otherwise good

rachelworksfromhome October 12, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Heavier than my previous yoga. Camera is already giving me a few issues. Otherwise it's a solid computer with great screen resolution. Would have liked to have had the option to have it overnighted. I needed it the next day, but I had to wait 3 business days and a weekend.

Good but on off button in wrong place.

Jomjr September 28, 2023

On off button is in the wrong place. I use the laptop with the keyboard folded under. With the keyboard in that position there is no access to the on off button. It needed to be on the side instead as it used to be. Annoying every day. Otherwise great machine.

Surprisingly few advances in almost 8 years

Longtime LenovoIBM user December 25, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced my 2016 X1 Yoga with a new one. The replacement takes longer to start up than my old machine (that could be Windows 11?), and is substantially heavier, so overall it feels like a downgrade, which is disappointing for a piece of tech that had seven years to make advances. To some extent it may be a testament to how advanced these machines were back then. While I like the idea of integrating the finger reader with the power button, the reader is really finicky and rarely works. Also disappointing. Having face recognition is nice but the machine doesn't automatically switch to and utilize the camera plugged into the docking station, so if you start your laptop from the docking station with the laptop closed this feature is essentially not available.

Loose Cellular 5G Sim Tray

Nimue_Hexadragon October 16, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine is okay -- the key is soggy and the 5G cellular Sim tray is extremely loose and wiggly. I use a T-mobile data only nano-Sim in the tray for internet connection, and my connection is constantly interrupted by an error message "T-Mobile 5G is not inserted". The tray is too loose! For a premium product at a premium price, Lenovo cannot even get a Sim Tray right!

New Lenovo not working great.

Josefina Hajek Herrera June 8, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The computer lags and the screen freezes up. I just started using it and it's already having some major issues. The main thing that is bothersome is that the mouse pad is just a bit slow, so what is see on my screen does not match with the movement I'm making on the mouse pad.
