only problem is...It went right from carrier to my window. right out of box. i didnt open it up...should have. something was in there dead. it smelled awful for several before figured. out where it was coming. had to have gotten in at factory becaused packed in box.
The front cover was so hard to put ON. I gave up I had to tape it with duck tape. The one side just would not go in. It cools well. It's pretty quiet.
It only has three seconds low, medium and high and the high is really not that very high and I have a down to 60 and the room is small and it doesn't seem to be blowing out that much to cool down the room. I was thinking of calling LG, but it's already in the window and so I just let it go.
It looks very well made. The air is very cold and it blows on %233 hard. It takes care of a large studio apartment easily. He is too loud when the compressor comes on. It's quiet otherwise. I hope it lasts longer than the last one bought in 2021. One was bought before that but I don't remember when. This is the 3rd one. I wanted to be able to just slide them in the old opening. Makes installation quick and easy. It should be 100$ less but that's just because of the times. Everything is more expensive since Covid and 45.
Received a heavily damaged unit from Walmart from a place called returnpro that handles DOA returns. Apparently a fork lift struck the rear corner sometime and smashed the case into the power board on this one. I tried to return it to my local Walmart but the management team leader said he thought it might have been too badly damaged to ship back. I removed the case cover to check for damage myself and noticed that this new lw8024rd model uses single feed capillary metering for the evaporator. That might explain some of the complaints about refrigerant noise for this model. I have used these LG 8000 btu units for years and the Lw8016ER and LW8017ersm use a dual feed that is a little faster to cool at startup, quieter and more efficient. Still might not be a bad value as the compressor and refrigerant loop easily last 30,000 hours in these. Beware of purchasing from Walmart though, you may be shipped a DOA unit from someplace other than an LG distribution center and Walmart customer service can be very poor.
Just installed it and found that the condenser in the back of the AC is slightly misaligned and off center and angled. Also, some of the fins in the front of the AC are smashed in. It appears that there are some quality issues at the factory, or they damaged it before boxing it. It was boxed up tightly and secure. Otherwise, I am finding that the actual room temperature runs about 3-4 degrees higher than the temp setting on the AC. So, to get to 72 degrees, it has to be set to 69. I also have noticed when it cycles, the unit makes an odd vibration noise. Will watch it to make sure it cools on hotter days. It may have to be returned.
extremely disappointed, 4 days old. I've owned 4 LG AC's now. i removed a 12k and put in this 14k and it won't even drop the temp below 4° of outside temp. 79° outside and can't get it below 75° inside a 500sqft room. my 12k would freeze you out but was getting old and wanted to upgrade b4 summer and now that it's installed i am regretting it. it blows cold, just not vey cold.
My 12,000BTU AC does not cool. The temperature will not go below 69F. My previous AC which was also a 12,000BTU would freeze the whole room, but this one does not even cool it off. I have tried every setting, turned the fan to high. Checked the filter and nothing helps. The room is not a large room. The AC was installed by a man who has installed dozens of AC's so he knows what he is doing. Returning it seems to be the only option.
We ordered this air conditioner in May and it came right away but once we got it installed this week, we turned it on and it does not cool like it so cool and we tried everything in changing the settings everything and it still doesn't cool our room like it's supposed to
Comes unassembled, you have to unscrew and remove the ENTIRE UNIT from the outer metal frame in order to mount supporting "feet". Inside the outer shell are foam strips with adhesive on one side to insulate / seal the sides of the compressor unit from the outer shell and the inside of your home. The compressor unit fits so tightly inside the outer shell that in the factory they jammed it in and tore up the foam which then rolled up and adhered to the compressor that you need to pull out for installation which made it extremely difficult to pull with just your finger tips as required. Side curtains have the normal channel to sit in on top but bottom of curtains rely on two pop - in guides that don't pop in, we aren't even able to use them, so the curtains were just flopping around loose and had to use a rubber mallet to get the top in because they fit so tightly. The curtains also are installed by using the supplied 8 machine screws to screw them to the side of the unit...without any pre punched holes or reinforcement for the screws, the poke the screws through the thin plastic curtain and pray. The face (inside control panel) must also be installed and barely SNAPS into place due to it being so tight because of the power cord running from the to the bottom behind the control panel. This means if / when you take the unit out of your window you also have to rip the face off, risking breaking the weak tabs that keep it in place to begin with. Unit would short cycle film the beginning, running for around 3-7 minutes then the compressor would shut off for about 5 minutes which just creates a constant humid and musty room. The only time it worked well was at night which would still short cycle but without humidity and smell. Went through the hassle of returning and getting a new one and it had all of the same issues. Poor QC, comes unassembled (never seen or heard of this before) , horrible fitment, powder coating was twice as thick as it should have been which clogged holes and perforations for clips and tabs.
