LG WM5500HWA front load washer

Works great! This replaced a 12 year old LG that finally died after lots of use over the years. I was happy to get the new updated version of the same color so that it matches the old dryer which is still working great. And, it also fit on the old pedestal! Love the newer features!

Bought this set to replace a WM3770H and DLEX3570 washer/dryer set. I liked that pair, but the washer suffered a premature bearing failure, and I took the gamble to try LG a second time despite that. This set is a HUGE improvement, and not just because of the move up from 2 to 5 "turbowash" jets. The number of available wash programs, the ability to edit which ones are visible, the "wash prioritization" feature that reshuffles the order of the programs based on frequency of usage are all gigantic steps up. LG has also opened up the option list a lot as well (e.g., "Extra hot" temp was previously only available on the "Sanitize" cycle. Now I can add it to most cycles, including "Heavy Duty." This is super good for flexibility). Almost all cycles have the ability to add up to three extra rinses now, for a total of four! Huge improvement for sensitive skin! I personally also like the new control panel - all touch sensitive. The small screen inside the selector dial is a nice touch. There are no physical buttons anymore. And the drum has a light now! You have to scroll through a few options to turn it on manually, but this doesn't bother me much. On the dryer, the drum is now stainless too! On my old set the washer was, but dryer drum was painted steel. Another big improvement! A few areas that could be improved: despite having the same 4.5 cu. ft. interior space, the cabinet on this one takes up a noticeable amount of additional space. It may not matter to you, but my laundry room is very small and it's obvious. I wish there was a "brightness" setting to the control panel. It's not too bad, but in daylight can be tough to read (I have a large window in said laundry room). Touch settings that are available but not active are lit very dimply, and difficult to see in some cases. And one major misstep: I think that as a result of people complaining about a small amount of water left in the liquid detergent cup LG now has molded a pinhole into the bottom. This was NOT a well thought out solution, because thinner detergents (i.e., most plant-based ones) drain out as fast as you pour them in. Obviously, this has no impact on powdered detergents (I use both), but after talking to LG customer care there seems to be no plan to correct this, so I ended up putting a drop of glue over the hole. Now I am back to a bit of clear water left in the detergent cup after a wash, but I never considered this a big deal in the first place, so who cares? At least now my liquids detergents don't immediately drain out. Despite the few goofs this set is definitely an improvement for LG and looks and feels far more "premium" than older LG sets.

Thanks so much LG for the WM5500HVA Washer and matching electric dryer in Graphite Steel! Most all high end washers are now 5.0 cu. ft or bigger. We do not have the depth to accommodate a washer that big, but still wanted all of the high end features of the large flagship washers. LG is the only manufacturer that has a high end 4.5 cu ft unit. This unit has it all! Shallow 30-1/4" depth to fit in tight spaces AI smart cycles and technology The LG app (never thought I would use it, but has been an amazing feature) Super quiet! quicker wash cycle than past units (probably because of the app and smart features) Drum Light !!!! Sleek design We couldn't be happier with our purchase! Thanks again LG!

I bought the washer about 6 weeks ago and I love it! It is easy to use, love the presets and it meets all my family needs. Love the allergine cycle as I have three dogs that I allow on my furnishings so I use alot of blankets and constantly washing them. I also like that most of the cycles are faster than my previous model. Delivery and installation were super. Great buy!

Purchased a month ago and already noticed a savings on my water bill. Easy to use, very intuitive, and excellent features. Using the LG Thin Q app, I know when the cycle is done and don't need to physically check the status. Uses the right amount of water for the load and the cycle completes quickly. Clothes come out clean and fresh. I could not be happier. Had a competitors brand prior and it kept going off balance. I had to continually restart the machine at spin cycle and it would fill with water all over again. No problems with the LG front load washer. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a reliable machine with great features.

This is a terrific washer. Fast, efficient, and quiet. It takes a bit of time to get used to the control panel and various different settings, but that is a minor issue compared to the quality. Do not stop a cycle before it finishes. We did and had to reboot the washer in order to regain ability to select our desired cycle.

Took delivery on this unit. Easy to make connections. First wash discovered the washer gasket is improperly installed. Sad, to know quality control is lacking. Defect 2was extremely apparent. Received second as replacement. Easy control wash decisions. This unit has performed well with the done wash applications. Not as quiet as expected.

I've run 4 cycles so far, and it is doing a great job of cleaning. The drum is noticeably stabile compared with my old LG where the drum broke. The drum also flips the clothes around to help clean. It has many cycles, and the ThinQ app makes it easy to manage them, and have only the cycles you use show up on the dial. Cons: this machine doesn't have a Steam Fresh cycle (steam/tumble/no wash for wrinkles). LG also claims that additional cycles can be downloaded. So far, only Overnight can be added. The glass is dark, requiring a flashlight to see inside during the cycle. The Options are very hard to read since the display panel isn't illuminated, but you can use the ThinQ app to select them instead.
