LG 5.3 cu ft High-Efficiency Top Load Washing Machine with Easy Unload Design

We purchased this washer in January 2025 after consulting Consumer Reports when our 24-year-old machine washed its last load. After our new washer was installed, the learning process for me began. This new machine isn't my grandmother's wringer washer, and I had to learn how to do laundry all over again. Since this washer senses the weight of clothes to be washed, I learned how to select the proper cycle for each load and have become quite pleased with its cycles and quiet performance. In fact, I look forward to laundry day. From washing a few small pieces to a queen-size blanket or winter coat, this machine does it all with cycles to match. I don't think we have ever had so many clean clothes in this house before! We couldn't be more pleased with the ability and performance of this WT8405CW washing machine.

New LG washer and dryer working great. One thing I would like to mention, the dryer sheet gets trapped under the lint screen. What does AI do, their is no delicate cycle.

I was drug kicking and screaming to this new washing machine after my 2008 direct drive Whirpool was making so much racket on the spin cycle it shook the house. I believed that any new washer would be inferior to that old classic, and I was right up to a point. The new washer takes longer to wash clothes but does get them clean enough when I take the proper precautions. Basically, when I load the machine I evenly spread out the clothes in the basket and then dump a 3 gallon bucket of water on them. Since there is no manual water setting, I have to "fake out" the weighing sensors to make them believe there is more clothes than are really there so I get enough water to go over the pile. I do this in conjunction with the deep fill setting and it does work great. I tried using AI Wash before trying this method and the results were disapointing. The upshot to this washer is that it does more effectively rinse out the clothes since they smell less like Tide than they did with the old washer. This model is good enough by modern washer standards, and that's really all you can expect.

This washer works great except that I can no longer use bleach. Twice now I have done a load of whites adding regular thin liquid bleach to the bleach dispenser and when I do the next load of darks I have some stained clothes. I don't see or know how. But super hesitant to ever use bleach through the dispenser again. I don't see a water source to clear it and it's on the corner so I've been cleaning it off since the first time I noticed the problem. Nothing in the manual helps.

I like the glass lid but what is the point with the tint? You can not see in side. I also do not like the tilt feature on the top of the dryer. I like to put my laundry detergent there. I would rather them not match. It is nice to be able to reach in the washer. I would also like a soak feature. I haven't been able to figure that out. Other than that the washer and dryer are a good pair.

Purchased this about a month ago. We are slightly annoyed at the machine because unless you do deep fill every wash it will NOT get stuff clean. We even had clothes go through whole cycles and not be completely wet (still dry in places). Not a huge fan of the numerous buttons either. Just need to have knobs that are easy and not over complicated.

I purchased a LG washing machine Model WT8405CB about 13 months ago. It's a top loader. It started breaking apart from the door where it fits off into the washing machine at. Pieces are just breaking off in the washing machine. The machine is not made of anything. You have to be careful how you handle it. Pieces appear to be still breaking off till this day. I just don't understand it. It should be a lawsuit with the way pieces are just breaking off. Cheaply Made Products by LG!!

I totally wasted my money, LG and according to LG support, water restrictions have made this washer almost unusable, first "turbo wash" makes washing faster by not really having a rinse cycle, after draining the wash water it does a slow spin while spraying the clothes as a rinse, It does not work unless the clothes were clean before you statred, second, there is no way to control water level, the machine decides how much unless you want a full tub, on it's own it doesn't put in enough water to allow clothes to move from top to bottom, again even after sending support a video there answer is , NORMAL. I find people on line saying start a cycle, fill for 90 seconds then shut off power button, turn on and select cycle, at that point it senses a heaver load and adds enough water. I can't believe I have to try and trick my new machine, Just give me a level control and a way to manually select cycles, even the download cycle are their canned cycles.

As a mom of 4 boys who go to school, play multiple sports, spill food, get sick, potty training etc I hate this washer!! We bought a new washer and dryer set after using old school white top loader set for years. My husband wanted to purchase Speed Queen but I did not want to spend the money. These were expensive enough, and since they were new and included tech I assumed they would be a great investment. Boy was I wrong. Clothes don't ever seem to come clean, stains are never washed out, there is no soak feature, and cycles take forever if you add rinse or heavy cycle. If there is grass on a kid sock it comes back out with the sock after it's done “cleaning”. I shouldn't have to wash all my clothes by hand before washing them in the washer. I've tried every cycle, soap, water combination I have found suggested online on the app, and I'm the manual! Another example, I have a sick kiddo today, a boogered up tissue got washed with the dirty pillows/blankets by accident. Guess what came out…a tissue with boogers still on it! Crazy!! The dryer is ok but for clothes to actually dry you have to turn the heat up and select that you want them dry. We constantly clean/wash the vent and it still gives errors. The washer is still my main issue though! We also purchased a LG ThinQ dishwasher and have the same problem. We have to wash dishes before we run them in the dishwasher. Newer is not always better! LG needs to compensate all of us who wasted money on this set!

This machine doesn't rinse well since new… and now after owning for 4 years with proper maintenance, the machine won't come out of rinse mode. Over optioned, overrated JUNK.
