Drying and venting issues

CGL9 May 19, 2026

I recently purchased a new dryer and have been disappointed with both the design and overall performance. The biggest issue is the venting system. The vent connection feels poorly engineered, making installation more difficult than it should be, and airflow does not seem efficient. Even with a properly cleaned vent line, the dryer struggles to circulate heat effectively. Drying times are much longer than expected. A normal-sized load often requires two or even three cycles before clothes are fully dry, which wastes both time and energy. Heavier items like towels and bedding come out damp around the edges and need additional drying. The build quality also feels underwhelming for a new appliance. Some components seem lightweight and not very durable, especially around the lint filter and vent connection areas. For the price, I expected a much more reliable and better-designed product. Overall, this dryer has been frustrating to use due to the poor venting design, inconsistent drying performance, and excessive drying times. I would not recommend it unless the manufacturer improves the airflow system and overall quality.

Damaging clothes!!

LunaRae June 7, 2026

We purchased what is rated as one of the top gas dryers according to Consumer Reports. We have had it approximately 7 weeks. During that time we have had 4 loads which resulted in clothing being damaged. There is a gap between the bottom of the drum and the lower plate inside the door. Items become caught in this gap and are twisted into a ball and damaged to the point where they are no longer wearable. After buying the washer and dryer from LG I did research and found similar complaints on the LG website. We also find it difficult, if at all possible, to customize out drying temperature.

DISAPPOINTED

GASD February 9, 2026

while it functions For the most part I have two major issues. The folding lint filter is designed flawed for the frame where the filter folds has broken twice in a little over a year with normal use just from opening and closing the filter to clean it. My other complaint is that for me the black control panel is very difficult to read and so easily fingertip printed. I would sacrifice some bells and whistles for knobs as controls. Lg has replaced the filter twice but now that my unit is over year old the burden will fall on me in the future. The filter needs to be re-designed.

Good Dryer, can't see the control panel too dim.

Ktfd July 6, 2025

Control Panel is so dim that I am having to make labels so that we know what cycle to choose from. I've bought new lighting, turned off the lighting in the room; nothing helped it's just too dim. Dries very well but we cannot figure out what setting to put it on if we can't see the control panel. I would send back the washer and drier if they had a control panel that was printed.

Too Sensitive

RHS40 May 9, 2026

Takes forever to dry. The electronic dryness sensor constantly interferes and slows things down or stops the drying. The exhaust is simply not sufficient to push the hot air out. I have a long run to the outside but have a booster fan that has worked well over the decades. Two previous dryers had no problem with it. The booster fan is working fine and we have had the vent cleaned as well but the LG programming is just too sensitive.

Horrible all around

Moni C February 16, 2026

Worst dryer I have ever owned and the washer that goes with it is even worse than the dryer. Nothing is ever completely dry after the first cycle AND the clothes come out VERY wrinkled. I have to iron every pair of pants that comes out of there (even dry fit comes out wrinkled) and if I didn't refuse to iron T-shirts, those would need be ironed as well. I have had this unit barely over a year. I will never purchase LG again and I'm counting down the days until I can afford to dump this and buy a new one.

Great evidence for why AI is useless.

OldManWinter January 15, 2026

Probably the greatest reason to avoid AI. Unlike non-AI, non-WiFi dryers you can't modify the default settings; you have to log in to the app and download a custom setting - and you only get one. The AI setting seems to know only 1 temperature setting - incinerate. Previous dryer was a non-intelligent LG - which worked great - I could pick a setting and modify it. Hopefully somebody at LG sees this and releases a S/W update that allows modification to the default settings. Otherwise this 2 month old dryer is destined to be replaced by a non-AI model.

Beware!!!!

Glennie234 March 29, 2026

If I could do negative stars I would. Don't waste your time with this junk. It looks nice but will give you a d80 and d90 code every time. My one load of laundry has take almost 8 hours to dry because it keeps shutting down. And before you ask, this is a brand new home. The lint vent is perfectly fine and every other avenue as been explored. It's just this hunk of junk that now I am out of money on because LG does not offer a trade up anymore. Go elsewhere.

Not user friendly

Jayydee May 22, 2025

Do not recommend. I loved my previous LG set. I was able to select a mode, then customize the options to fit my needs. The only options available are what are preset and most are med/high heat settings. I have a lot of office work attire and baby clothes that all need low settings and this is just not an option unless you choose quick dry, but then you lose the sensing option and you can only time dry.

Not drying

Anonymous December 23, 2025

I love the dryer but after 2 weeks it stopped heating. GAS error. It works intermittently now. LG has sent one tech out but problem still not fixed and the guy left screws out. Still waiting for response on another service reques.
