Stunningly good picture

Rob9999 August 26, 2017

Got this fully installed yesterday in a partial daylight basement home theater. I know OLED does a little better in non bright environments which I have. Picture is unbelievably good. Got rid of a 2006 vintage Sony rear projection TV which I thought was still OK but now that the LG OLED is up and running it blows out the other set. The kids think the new TV is much larger but its only slightly larger (65" vs 60"). I realized today the reason they think its much larger is because the picture is much clearer and brighter which makes the set seem larger than just 5" more screen size. Also we are Netflix and Amazon Prime people and the remote has dedicated buttons to immediately link to those two services- nice. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great so far!

B2kshe June 19, 2018

Have had this for about a week now and the colors and pictures are great for what Comcast can currently offer (no 4k)! Easiest of set up and light weight for a new generation television. The Oled tech is quite amazing and the colors are so true, especially the black being so vivid. Bravo LG! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Best TV Picture Quality Ever

avassigh December 23, 2017

If you've ever considered buying an OLED TV, don't wait. LG's OLED TV delivers the best picture I've ever seen. There's no contest. It's way ahead of every LED and Plasma TV out there, period. Colors are rich, and blacks are pure black. You can view this OLED TV from almost any angle and it still looks beautiful. HD (1080p) and UHD (4K) content look amazing. Digital set up of the TV: Very easy to follow the on-screen set up. The remote control with a built-in motion sensing on-screen pointer makes it easy. My only gripe: I connect all of my other entertainment devices to an Audio/Video receiver, and then use one HDMI cable from my AVR to the OLED TV. I use a Harmony universal remote and found there's no way to tell the TV to switch picture mode's. Would be nice if when I play my Xbox, my universal remote could command the TV to switch to game picture mode; and when I play my Roku, my universal remote would ideally be able to command the TV to switch to movie picture mode. Etc. Regarding physical set up of the TV: The box and packaging are designed to be a part of your set up experience. So, don't rip the box to shreds when opening. Set the TV box upright and have the front face you. Cut the tape at all the seams. The front of the box will swing open like a door. Grab the instructions and follow them closely. Most importantly, never lift or grab the TV screen itself. They supply Styrofoam blocks to help you "hold" the screen as you lift the TV. The TV is light weight for it's size, but it's still a 2-person job to take it out of the box and set it up. One minor negative about the design of the TV, if you want to mount it to the wall: the power cord is permanently attached to the TV. If your power outlet is on the wall and behind the TV, then it will take a 3rd person to plug the power cord into the outlet as two others hold up the TV and then place it onto the wall mount (normally, you would plug the power cord into the wall outlet, let the cord dangle, mount the TV on the wall, then plug the cord into the TV). Don't forget to write down the model and serial number before mounting it on the wall. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Whats ups with no user manual!!

grizzer August 9, 2017

I am getting tired of spending thousands of dollars on stuff and not having an owners manual included that is complete vs the the basic quick start. You used to get pretty good diagrams and user functions. 50 cents worth of paper. You can do better LG. TV is nice though :-) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great image but... Apple TV 4K not compatible??

BTJones September 26, 2017

I have the LG OLED65B7P monitor connected to the NEW Apple TV 4K (64GB) and having video issues. The link below is to a short video showing the issues. I've tried the following: * Connecting the Apple TV 4K into multiple HDMI ports (1&2). * Using different HDMI cables / purchased (2x) of the recommended HDMI cables made by Belkin, sold at the Apple Store, tried both of them in both HDMI ports. * Reset the LG TV back to factory default (Software Version 03.60.16 / webOS TV Version 3.6.0-20901) * Reset the Apple TV 4K back to factory default (tvOS 11.0 (15J381)) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great picture but has Flaws!

Flatronnie May 6, 2018

The picture can look amazing, especially when there is a 4k feed going to it. The pictures is bright and crisp. The side viewing angles are also really great (much better than LCD TVs). The black Leva can also be amazing. However there are some issues with this TV. These TVs have banding issues. Now I understand that OLED TVs will have some banding issues. But my set has some extreme banding in some areas. From what I have read others have this issue, and it varies from set to set. There seems to be some quality issue with the panels. Also sometimes the eis a lot of "noise" in the picture (hopefully a future firmware update could fix. Don't get me wrong the TV is great, but for the high price for this set, I shouldn't have to be settling with this.... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

One glaring problem

ChasB August 3, 2017

I purchased a 65" oled b7p and have it in my home in one location and have the same model in a 55" at a vacation home. Charter is my provider for the 65" and Comcast for the 55". Lip sync is the problem. The picture, to die for. Absolutely gorgeous, but all the realism in the world is destroyed when all one can concentrate on is the fact that it looks like you are watching a poorly dubbed foreign movie. There IS an adjustment to match the sound, however while one can make it match for a few moments, it slips out of sync shortly. LG says that bottom line: it is the cable company's fault and that they need to delay the sound so that it will sync in the time it takes the TV to deliver the beautiful picture. Charter and Comcast beg to differ. It occurs on anything that goes through the cable decoder and on anything going through a Roku (Netflix, amazon, Hulu, etc) The only exception is the blu-ray. Sadly, both TVs will be returned unless this can adequately be resolved. My recommendation is to wait until the manufacturer and the cable companies have duked this out and have it solved. Screens don't last on early versions.

LarryGL December 14, 2024

Struggling with red pixel issues after 6 years, with NO instruction how to manage the screen "image retention" problem. "Buy a new TV - here's 15% off" was the help offered by LG. Bummer

Terrible Experience!!!!

Pjke January 6, 2020

We purchased this model as our long anticipated big tv purchase after retirement. after doing a lot of research and settled on this TV. After 6 months the screen malfunctioned and we had the screen replaced and we thought we were good and all problems solved..... NO not the case. After we had the screen replaced we started to see the settings icons appearing in the screen (burned in) on the side. When we called just happened to be 1 1/2 years after screen replacement and 3 weeks after the warranty expired... not happy. So even with the replacement screen could not even last. We also purchased extended warranty and was told the problem we discovered was not covered. So when we selected the available settings on LG for our TV, we believed we were set to enjoy our LG TV. Until this imaging problem and were told by the extended warranty company that we were not covered. Even though the TV settings were set to what was available. Needless to say will be sharing our experience with others for a long time.
