LG OLED77C9PUB 77-inch 4K UHD Smart OLED TV

After reading quite a few professional reviews that recommended the LG C9 TV as having the best picture quality available, right now, I went ahead and ordered it. The price for the 77" was a little difficult to stomach, but it's a great feeling to have the best viewing experience available. I use a home theater system for audio, so I can't comment on the built-in speakers, but the interface and apps available through WebOS have proven adequate. The only shortcoming I've encountered firsthand is that the built-in video rendering engine does not support image-based subtitles (PGS, VOBSUB), though text-based subtitle formats (SRT) render just fine. I've also read reports of finnicky eARC support in the C9, with some AVRs being incompatible and multichannel PCM not working over eARC. LG is apparently working on firmware updates to improve eARC compatibility, though I wouldn't count in it. #sweepstakes

Amazing picture when viewing 4K content and still quite good with regular HD content. (I wish there was more 4K content around to take advantage of this great picture quality... no 4K available on cable TV yet.) When watching older low def programs, the TV is so detailed that it really shows the imperfections that I never noticed on my old TV. It makes the picture look quite bad, but that's due to the content and not the TV. The sound is also much clearer than I expected using the "Clear Voice III" sound setting. With my old TV, I had to use my external surround sound system to hear the dialogue over the other background sounds of the program (like music or crowd noise). Now I only use my surround system for intense movies and use the TVs internal speakers for normal everyday programming. Beach Camera had the best prices. But OLED is still way too high compared to other TVs. This 77" was about $1400 more than a non-OLED model I had considered, which was also very good. Although OLED is better, it isn't $1400 better -- more like $400 better. But that's the price you pay for the latest and greatest technology. I wish my old set had lasted a little longer until the OLED prices come down to be more in line with their value. TV has a convenient interface and remote. But there are two minor drawbacks... The LG doesn't have much in the way of on-line channels. After buying a smart TV, you end up wanting to add a $40 Roku to get more on-line content and foregoing the smart TV features you've paid for. Also, there is no video output port (I'm not sure if any other new TVs have that anymore). This is disappointing. My old TV could send this signal to a recording device like a DVR or VCR. So if I'm watching a show on one of the LG on-line channels and want to record it to watch later, there is no way for me to do this. I wish manufacturers would bring this back. #sweepstakes

4K HDR is mind blowing how realistic the picture is. It puts you in the scene. LG C9 is a top end TV and has more features than I will probably ever use. It has an awesome picture and many menu options if you like doing calibrations yourself. Out of the box it offers accurate picture quality.

Amazing TV, you simply cannot beat an OLED for picture quality. It has a clear advantage over other technologies in terms of contrast and richness of color. The software is great, easy to navigate and can have the remote control your connected devices and also synch with AI services like Alexa and Google Assistant. If you want premium, get OLED. #sweepstakes

I am extremely happy with this TV. The colors and picture are like no other. Watching it in a dark room, if the scene cuts to black, you can't even tell that the TV is on! Not like most other TVs where you can see a faint light in the background. On another note, the service I received from Beach Camera was awesome. The TV came well packaged and quickly.#sweepstakes

I have the 65 inch C8 version in my family room. The picture quality is hypnotic; it's hard to stop watching it. I bought the 55 inch (smallest at that time) for my den which is incomplete as yet causing me to use the built-in sound from the TV; the sound quality is excellent! Yor delivery was prompt with no problems. A good deal all around. PS: My neighbor walked into my family room a few days after I installed my new OLED, watched it for about an hour then went out and bought one.

First, going from a 65 inch plasma to the 77C9 was a significant improvement. Still learning to use all the features and haven't come across anything that is not better than my last tv. Love the picture quality both daytime and in a darkened room. Have a friend that purchased a Samsung 65Q90 just before I made the LG 77C9 purchase and for the small difference in price, I'm glad I made the choice I did.

With a TV, the main thing is the picture quality and this TV delivers in that area. Very sharp picture and contrast with perfectly black blacks. On the downside, the settings interfaces are clunky and not organized the way I think. The quality control may not be great at LG. Mine had a big distorted vertical line on the screen and I'm waiting for LG to replace the panel. In researching the issue, it is fairly common to have a similar issue. But once you get a good panel, the picture quality is all that really matters. #sweepstakes

TV is fantastic picture, but sound isnt that great. Got soundbar and initial setup was easy. However, there is a sound lag. I have my cable box into the TV and then to the soundbar and when I switch to the hdmi to the sounbar first, it fixes the lag, but then the controls are near useless. #sweepstakes
