Ive had this drive since it was released . Not a single problem , still running strong in 2026 . Does what its supposed to on multiple formats , but bluray burning is my favorite . ~ Wish LG would continue the trend including with their bluray 4k players , which Ive also come to trust and use without problems . Wish they would "re-continue" (manufacturing) disk media players with but updated to 8k . One can hope !
I have had mine for about a week now. I have successfully burned data to a CD-R, a DVD R, and a BluRay disc. It works as it should. No complaints as of yet.
This Blue Ray Writer burns every type of disc with no problems. I burned a few BD-R discs and they come out perfect. I also burned a few video's on DVD+ and CD-R music discs. The writer reads discs very fast. This Writer does not have any Multi- Media burning software.
The storage capacity is amazing and perfect for me and my movie and music collections. It was awful having to spend and spend on hundreds of CD's and even DVD-DL's for this. Not only is the storage capacity fantastic, this thing works beautifully out-of-the-box on Linux. This is another main important feature for me since I will not ever use Microsoft's OS's ever again. It's fast, quiet, and even the eject button is much nicer and easier to hit than any other similar device on the market. This thing simply made life easier for me and the price was extremely nice too since I live on a pittance of a disability check and can't afford these things just any ol' time I want one - cheap or not!
Bought it without software but I already had my own, it works great with Cyberlink Media Suite, Nero Burning Rom and others... I use it mainly for storing data on Blu ray disc. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have only one complaint about this drive. It really isn't about the drive itself. The software that I tried to install to test everything wouldn't install. I had to purchase my own Cyberlink software. Which cost more than the drive itself. Other than that no cons.
Yes, it comes with beta software that you are supposed to upgrade (for $30) to get the most current copy. Crashes frequently. After 6 mos. mine has quit reading dvds and will only read blu-ray. Consider other players before choosing this one.
This internal Blu-ray burner from Platinum Micro is what you see is what you get. It came with no box, no holding screws, no cables, no instructions, in fact I didn't even get a invoice from the company that sent it to me. According to the Walmart site I still haven't even gotten it yet (but I did). The burner came in a open ups bag that was inside a sealed postal bag, no padding, no box. In fact it looked like someone had tried to use it before putting it back in the bag then sealing it in a postal bag. My advice is don't order anything that comes from Platinum Micro. If anything had gone wrong with the burner there was no paperwork that came with the order that I would have had to show Walmart in order to take it back. I don't hold Walmart responsible but I will never order anything that comes from Platinum Micro ever again.
Starting getting read errors, thought it was the discs but read fine on another WH14NS40 and other BD manufacturer. Kept using hoping just flakey discs, eventually became too unreliable to use for valuable data. Drive was 9 months old with not a lot of use.
bought it 3 months ago and it started burning intermittently. Tried to get it repaired under warranty but LG wouldn't stand behind their product since I didn't buy from a certain seller.
