I brought this on the 15/04/2018. Wasn't sure if better than up970 . Well it is . Picture very clear on Dolby vision . Make sure you set it on 24hz . If you have Dolby atoms set up , the sound is amazing , set it on 192hz. It is better made than the up970. Oh by the way no noise when on , but must say the up970 after update was quiet as well.
I read reviews to other 4k players but not the LG so took a gamble when buying it. Have to say the picture is excellent and it performs very well for the money. Actually, not sure if spending any more will get you a better performance. Not many features but I like that. Netflix and YouTube performance is top notch.
Excellent value and great quality for the price. Also very versatile as it will play everything from standard audio CD's. Good upscaling on standard DVD's and blurays and excellent 4k quality on UHD format blyrays
I decided to by this product for the price range it offers the following Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, WIFI certified, DTS-HD HDR compatable, ultraHD premium ultraHD blue-ray which attached to my projector picture and surround sound is superb. Love it also very quite when disk are going in/out of the tray and when played. Worth the buy.
Having moved away from Sony for my TV to LG I wanted a 4K Blu-ray player to match. I have been really pleased with both of my LG products and this has excellent Picture quality and 4K upscaling. What more can you ask for then a product which does everything it claims to do - overall a perfect product.
If you do not have fast broadband, then you need a 4K BD player to enjoy the additional image and sound quality if you have a 4K TV. The instructions should be a bit clearer about all the options for hdmi and pcm vs bitstream etc as that can dramatically affect the way the device communicates with a TV and external surround system for the correct decoding. There should also be a front panel, even if minimal, to show progress when playing any type of disc. It does what it says in a functional way though... but if I had Fibre broadband I would probably stay with 4K streaming services and continue to use my existing BD or DVD player
I recently bought this player with the hope to use the Dolby Vision and Atmos on 4k discs, whilst the Atmos is fantastic, Dolby Vision just will not work, tried swapping around the hdmi cables to no avail. After googling to see if anyone else has the same problem, there were loads, I have been cheated out of Dolby Vision purely for having a Sony tv, they are not compatible, it would be great for LG to bring out a firmware update to fix this issue as Sony is missing the needed hardware to fix it. I would have quite happily recommended the player if the Dolby Vision worked.
I have had this a few weeks, every time I have watched a blu ray, the machine has at some time during the film momentarily gone to a black screen and then starts again. Is this common? Should I ask for an exchange?
We bought one of these and it died in a couple of years. Colours are lacklustre and we could not get proper Dolby atmos. Have since bought a Panasonic UB820 and it leaves the LG in the dust. Anyone considering the LG should save their money and just go buy the Panasonic instead.
There is no option to turn off CEC. The player turns on every time the TV turns on. Harmony remote isn't able to operate this unit. When pressing "all off" when the player was already off, everything turns off but the UBK90 switches on. All related to being unable to disable UBK90 CEC control.
