I have had this washer for about 5 years. I love the smart reminders when the wash is done . That works well because the washer is in the basement. The extra size is nice so I can have fewer loads.
We purchased this washer in May of 2020 (4-1/2 years ago) to replace a top loading washing machine that we had had for over 20 years. This machine has a significantly larger capacity, allowing us to wash all but our largest, thickest comforters. It is much more gentle on our clothes than the top loader was and it seems to me that things come out cleaner. The only downside I have found when it comes to cleaning is that there does not seem to be a soak cycle, so I sometimes have to soak clothes in a plastic tub. After getting this machine our water usage went down (even if our bill didn't). It is quieter than our previous machine and so far durability hasn't been an issue, BUT it does require more care than a top loader. The cup areas, seal and inside-of-the-door MUST be dried EVERY time it is used and the door must be left open so that interior surfaces can air dry. We haven't been perfect in this regard, so when we have forgotten and left it closed, I have run it through on the TUB CLEAN cycle with a packet or tablet of washing machine cleaner. Sometimes it requires two runs before the moldish smell goes away and then even after that I will run a load or two at high temperature to try to thoroughly disinfect it. Since I do most of my laundry in cold water, I have to make a note to occasionally run loads on HOT for disinfectant purposes. It seems to me that when the machine is overloaded (per manual 2/3 full is the max), the clothes don't get clean. I have been very happy with this machine, but it isn't for everyone. If you can't remember to wipe out the machine every time (takes less than 5 minutes) or if you want to wash things quicker, then perhaps this model won't be for you. (With the water efficiency feature, two hour wash times are typical) If you don't mind the extra care, tho, you will use less water and have cleaner clothes, compared to any top loader and the majority of other front loaders.
I am a 5th generation Rancher, in Texas. Dirty work clothes. Working cattle dogs that are also for protection. Dog hair in the blankets, and protective covers for furniture they sleep on. Cleans dog hair fantastically!!! Bought in January 2017, never had 1 issue with this terrific work horse. Also bought because of the rust issues I had with Whirlpool washers, that were not supposed to rust. Rust is completely No Issue. Only washers I ever want to own. I tell my friends & family. Thank you LG !!
Great features, but issues with the water pump required replacement after 1.5 years of ownership. We've had to clean out the water filter often. Plastic casing on both doors have cracked. Have 4 kids (lots of washing). Have solar and monitor electric usage - these machines use more than expected. Plastic piece near the water pump is fragile - also needed replacement when pump was replaced.
I have had this washer (and matching dryer) for about 6 years now. This replaced an older pair of LG washer/dryer that had the dryer go out after ~13 years. I have had issues with this unit until after year 2 of ownership. We have the pedestals and store shoes in them. The washer had a leak that our shoes in the drawer were absorbing for some time. When we finally saw significant water making it through our shoes in the pedestal the shoes were pretty well toast. After fixing that leak about 6 months later the machine started to shake and move during the spin cycles to the point it was walking up to 2 feet from the wall. We have tried re-leveling it several times, new damper/shocks installed, new feet with additional padding to help absorb the vibrations but nothing has worked. The leak has since returned and are to the point where we are getting to old to continue to move the washer back into place after using it and need to replace this with a new washer (definitely not this model). I would not recommend this model. We paid a premium for it thinking it was going to be reliable and we have ended up spending more time working on fixing this washer than our last LG model which didn't have an issue over 13 years of use.
This washer was the biggest piece of garbage I have ever owned. It takes forever to do a load. I can't drain it if I need to stop mid load. The dryer that goes with it never dries right. Buttons are too sensitive.
Complete garbage. My husband has had to repair the machine multiple times for leaks and now it has another leak and the control panel is out after 4 years. Like everyone else says, don't buy it.
We paid good money for an LG washer because of all the reviews, but we must have a lemon. It has leaked twice in the last month and after two service calls, no one can explain how to fix it and LG can't help. Only the motor is still under warranty. We calculated that for the money we spent on this washer and dryer, I could have sent our laundry out to be done for the past four years and still come out ahead. Very disappointed.
We upgraded to a wonderful new LG washer after owning an older model for about 10 years. This new washer lasted 8 months before the first complete failure (it would not power up) and since then has need repairs every month. We are so disappointed! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Bought this washer 4 years ago. At least once a month we have to troubleshoot due to lack of power. Unplug, reset breaker, hold down start button for 5-10 seconds, plug back in and witness spark, cross fingers that it will work. If control board goes crazy, redo. All of the reviews indicate control board issue which resolves temporarily when replaced. Repairman called so let's see if they say the same to replace the control board. If so, so disappointed that LG doesn't stand behind their product. Warranty is useless.
