I bought this product last winter out of desperation but I'm so happy I tried it! The constant warm/wet/cold/dry cycle we have in the winters causes my gelding to get sulcus cracks which can get quite deep and painful if I don't stay on top of them. I was hesitant to treat the deep cracks with the harsher thrush treatments and needed another option. Since he has the option to go out 24/7 it's impossible to keep the cracks clean so that the thrush dies off and his frogs can heal. This stuff is amazing at keeping the dirt from packing into the cracks. I clean the cracks really well with a brush and flush them out with betadine. After they dry, I pack them with the clay and then finish off by putting a layer of Keratex gel over his entire frog/sole area. Amazingly, there will still be clay deep in the crack after a couple of days and as long as I'm consistent his frogs will slowly heal even though the weather cycle continues. I apply it without gloves and have no issues getting it to wash off of my hands with water and a paper towel. If the hoof is not totally dry, you may have trouble getting the clay to stick to the hoof rather than your fingers. It's generally not an issue getting the clay where it needs to go though.
I've used this product for three months. My horse had serious thrush that traditional remedies would temporarily help but not solve. With Life Data Hoof Clay, I saw improvement after two uses and today 3 of the 4 hooves are in excellent condition with a dramatic difference in the 4th. I can tell he's finally more comfortable which is a great feeling. I look forward to his farrier visits now because the improvement is so evident each time. I apply a thin layer twice a week to dry, clean hooves in the frog, sole and over old nail holes. My horse wears shoes but I don't have the farrier put it under the shoe although apparently that is an option. The video says that gloves aren't required because the product is natural but I recommend using them only because the sticky clay is hard to wash off. It sticks great to the hooves though! This is one of the best new products I've run across in a very long time and I recommend it to anyone who'll listen!
Love this , it even works great on wet muddy ground. When wet you will have to change about every 3 days, if horse is barefoot.
Great product, easy to apply stayed in area I applied it to tilk I cleanned her foot 3-4 days later. Also worked at drying up area of concern kept out unwanted mud.
It's like a hard clay goes on and fills the cracks and stays. Worth a try as for it helping my horse not sure yet to early to tell
I am two years into transitioning from traditional shoes to barefoot trimming my horses. Their feet are looking great, but still have some problems with white line occasionally. In the past I have used another hoof product and it is effective, but the hoof clay is easier to apply and stays in place longer. I love the concept and hope it will be as good as I believe it will!
I've been using this to help treat a mild case of White Lines Disease for 2 weeks now. Im using it after soaking treatments of White Lightning. Together they've stopped WLD in its tracks! This is my first time dealing with this bacteria, so I won't know until her next farrier barefoot trim if these products killed WLD completely. It's no longer getting worse though so that's a victory. I'm happy with this product and I would say it could easily clear up and manage a case of thrush no problem. Easy to use and pretty fun actually. I've been applying it about every other day. Only 4 stars though because it surely does not last "days". Even just applying it in my horse's stall while she stands and walks around a bit, most of the clay has worn off. Overall though, very happy!
I just started using this since my horse has a large separation between the wall of her hoof. The clay stays soft even in cold weather so it is easy to clean out and replace with new clean clay. The separation stays clean because of the medicated clay, I will know more as the separation grows out but for now like how it is keeping the pocket clean. I rate this as good because I have just started using it. If the separation grows out with no further problem I will rate this as great. :)
The mud in my horse's pasture this year has been wreaking havoc on his hooves. His wall is crumbly, especially around the nail holes. I have been putting the Life Data hoof clay over the crumbling parts of the wall and nail holes on the outside of his hoof a few times a week for the past few weeks. It's easy to apply and I don't worry about using my bare hands, which is really nice. It seems to be helping, it's certainly not hurting, and I will continue to use it to preserve my horse's hoof wall quality until it dries out!
Just started to use this product 3 weeks ago. My horse suffered from founder last year and has recovered but as the abscess grow out from hoof I wanted added protection for holes. This seems to help along with daily dose of "Horseman's Secret".
