Excellent product. I've been using this for years and won't use anything else. Both of my thoroughbreds love it and their hoof quality speaks for itself.
This is easy to feed as a top dressing on my horses feed. It has helped strengthen up my horses brittle hooves more then any other supplement I have tried.
This is the gold standard for hoof supplements in my opinion. It's pricey, but it works. I generally think using (most) anything else is pouring money away. I've used FF on my own horse and many, many others going back many years of grooming and working in barns. On some, you can literally see the difference. On those with feet that are in decent shape to start with, I find that there is greater growth between cycles, even in winter. With regards to my current horse, both my vet and farrier say "whatever you're doing, keep doing it" almost every time I see them -- and he's a thoroughbred with thoroughbred feet.
I've been using Farrier's Formula for nearly 10 years on Thoroughbreds, which have notoriously poor feet. My horses are all barefoot and have lovely hooves. On occasion, I've tried other products for a few months to save some money or to try something new, but I always came back to it because nothing compares to Farrier's Formula. To see the full benefit of Farrier's Formula, your horse has to be on it for at least 6 months or longer. It takes about 9 months for the hoof to totally grow out. Depending on the level of nutrition in a horse's diet, it may take a year or longer to see results, but you'll know when you've reached that point. My youngest rescue mare just started to get the glossy coat and better feet this spring after about 15 months on Farrier's Formula. I'll give a new horse one cup for the first couple of months and then taper down. I give all my horses 1/4 cup as a maintenance dose every day. Two of my horses are used for endurance, and they have rock-crushing barefoot hooves. While I do give the endurance horses about 1/3 cup during competitive season, if I give them more, their feet need to be trimmed too often (yes, that's how fast Farrier's Formula make their feet grow). I use the regular formula because my horses (yes, even my endurance horses!) get no grain. They *think* they're getting grain when it's only Farrier's Formula. Don't tell! Barefoot is so much better for the horse (and less expensive for you!), and this product will help you get and keep your horses barefoot.
My horse has been on this supplement for 7 months now and it really has helped her hoof health. She likes the taste as well.
Great service and very fast. Couldn't believe how quick. Thanks again for your service.
Recently moved to dry western Colorado and had severe cracking and chipping of draft-cross mare. Been using product for two months with good results.
My older QH has really terrible hooves. Since he is out of racing stock, I've been told he has "thoroughbred feet" . In any case they have been a problem and we tried all kinds of stuff (dressings, etc) until I researched supplements and learned about Farriers Formula. He has been on it several months and just yesterday the farrier said his feet have really improved. AND he loves it - my horse, that is.
Did 4 stars, the horse has not had it long enough to show any changes. Maybe after a year, you might see some changes.
I haven't used this product long to really see if it would make a difference for my horses cracked hooves, but after a few weeks of being on it, I noticed my horse became quite hot and way more energetic than normal on it. He's usually quite slow so it was at first a good change, but he started rushing fences, me unable to slow him down, etc. Taking him off this product to see if he gets back to normal. I'm sure for some horses this is great to use, but just wasn't ideal for my horse and myself.
