This is an excellent Kayak! It moves through the water pretty smoothly. The paddle that comes with the kayak, is much better than I expected. I still recommend buying a better paddle if you want an upgrade after a while (Bending Branches makes great and affordable paddles that will be much lighter, and will get you through the water a little more smoothly), but this one is a good paddle for someone just getting into the sport. The leg guard pads are great if you have long legs like myself (I'm 6'1"), so they don't hurt when they rub on the edge of the cockpit. The paddle keeper on the side came in handy right away. The foot braces are great and adjustable. The seat is pretty comfortable, and it's fairly adjustable and has a cup holder which was a nice touch. You can easily put a kayak skirt on if you feel you need one. The oval hatch in the back is convenient and large to store a few things, but I would get a waterproof bag if you have items that need to stay dry. The storage is connected to the cockpit from the bottom, and a little water will drip in when you paddle. Little hack for that; put a large sponge under your seat to help collect extra water and wring it out over the side when it's full. The boat is a little heavy, so make sure you have someone to help lift it if you need to lift it over your head, or on top of a car, but if you don't need to lift it over your head it has handles both in front and the rear to make it easy to carry or drag on the beach/grass, don't drag it on the street or cement. It cuts through the water rather smoothly, without drift from right to left, it stays pretty center for the most part, which is great for control of the boat. Again excellent kayak. Great for anyone getting into the sport, and it's great for even someone like myself who has been kayaking for years, I just wouldn't take it into rough or rapid waters. If that's what you're looking for in a kayak do your research, and learn about water classes and get some experience before you consider that. This kayak would be best used in lakes and rivers without rough waters and rapids. There are many upgrades you can do to kayaks, and I highly recommend doing so, you can YouTube "kayak upgrades" and you'll find a lot of neat stuff you can add to your kayak. Overall I am really happy with this kayak, fast shipping, great packaging, and excellent price. Enjoy!
Great beginners to intermediate kayak. Comes with a decent paddle and has a comfortable, easy to access cockpit. It has a large storage compartment behind the seat. The kayak is an entry level kayak and the storage is non-waterproof, so buy some dry bags. It is very stable and easy to paddle. Plenty of deck space to add accessories like pole holders, rope cleats, handles.
We bought a set of these kayaks to use at the lake. We borrowed another kayak that was terribly difficult to use. We could balance, but it was a fight the entire time. The Lifetime Lancer is comfortable for my teen girls, me, and my husband. They are so stable, our 60 lb dog is comfortable hopping in for a ride.
Husband loves his kayak. Shipped and was a lil digged up. We picked up from the store. Wont do that again. Will have shipped straight to the house. Produce is great. Glides thur the water.. sturdy for 6ft male 220lbs.
So far I have had this kayak since July 16th, 2020 and have taken it out in river like 4 times it feels comfortable steers well for price I paid. All in all very satisfied with this kayak.
Loving our Guster Kayaks. They’re light enough to roll to our nearby lake and very stable in the water. Only wish - that the storage hatch actually had a compartment to store items inside and not left loose to roll around in the bottom Of the Kayak and water.
Excellent customer service. My Kayak Hatch was lost during transport. Lifetime replaced it for free. What an amazing company. They take care of their customers!!! This is the second time I have received excellent service. I last called about an issue with the seat adjuster on my other Lifetime fishing Kayak. It was handled immediately!! By the way, both my Lifetime Kayaks are excellent, sturdy and we'll made!
After having our kayaks for a couple of years, I FINALLY found the warranty info and called about the broken carry handle. The handle was broken when the kayaks were delivered, but we didn't realize it until the delivery guy was gone and we were unpacking them. Happy to find that the entire kayak has a 5 year warranty!! Free replacement handle is on it's way. Thank you!
I decided to go with this one after seeing bad reviews on the sundolphin kayaks and I’m glad I did. It’s comfortable and tracks straight. My only complaint is the paddle that comes with it is flimsy and doesn’t have drip rings but that was an easy upgrade.
Am happy with the vivid color of the kayak, pictures do not do it justice. The seat is very ergonomical and comfortable. Also impressed with the seat pad and knee pads. I didnt take it on the water yet because of crazy MN weather. I thought it was spring but just went through a 3 day blizzard here. There are other kayaks out there that were a shape I liked better but they were made with low density polyethylene which I did not want and am happy to know that the Lifetime Lancer is made with high density polyethylene which is a big plus. One thing that could be better is the foot rests as my kayak came with one that had fallen off, and the two screws holding each one do not really work as they do not offer much support. I dont need another project, but looks like I have one if I want to use the kayak. Also the holes drilled to hold the foot rests are down low near the waterline and I would rather not have holes drilled in that area. Also the flotation blocks are a plus for safety, but why are they not secured to the kayak I wonder because if it fills with water and I am hanging on to the kayak watching the flotation blocks float down river how does that help to keep the kayak and me afloat? These are two things that I think Lifetime should address.
