Got for my son. Right price and size for a young beginner. Would be too small for myself. Used online order to store pick up, which worked as designed.
this kayak was perfect for my needs. i lived on a lake this past summer and wanted something fun to do, and enjoy with my significant other. it has good stability, the length is good for a 5'4" female, its easy to maneuver, and is pretty durable, so it should last a long time with proper care. it was nice that it came with a paddle. the paddle is in the middle of well made and not so well made. i had no problems with this purchase. i would recommend it.
Well im 60 and FINALLY decided to get my own kayak instead of renting them. DIDN'T want to spend a ton of money 💰 on it. So i found this one on Walmarts website for $190 total $209 with tax. I received it 6 days early. It was packaged well and in great condition. Its a basic no frills kayak. No dry storage or foot rests. Not knocking it, just the FACT'S. The oar ISN'T of the strongest materials. But i knew that from other reviewer's. Over all very happy with the purchase. Looking forward to using it twice a week on Watuga lake. Frank from Tennessee.
Wonderful starter kayak! Very lightweight and easily fit inside my 2012 prius after I laid the front seat down and removed the headrest. I am right around the 200lb weight limit and she handled beautifully. The edges along the inside are a bit sharp but a pool noodle from the dollar tree cut in half longways fit perfectly. I thought the oar works just fine, although it is a bit flimsy. All together 5 stars!
Love the Kayak!!! Enjoying this new experience. It is a very basic, beginner's kayak and hence the low cost, but it suffices my need to kayak at the nearby lake. It comes ready to take it to the lake. You'll, however, need to get a local state permit first to use it. Check your local requirements first. It's 8 ft length is the perfect size to fit completely in my Ford Explorer. I purchased 2 kayaks (for me and my wife) and both fit all the way in the SUV like a glove. It's light weight is very helpful in carrying it to the lake from the car (38 lbs). There are easy carry handles are on each end of the kayak. It also has a spout on one end to empty out the water that it collects from paddling. It doesn't come with Foot Pegs unfortunately, but I haven't seen a reason to add one. Suggested Improvements: - The sit-in area rim is a little sharp so adding some sort of padding for that maybe helpful while lifting the kayak, relax your legs on it while kayaking etc. - I did add a seat cushion for added comfort (highly suggest it). - Foot pegs
Exactly as advertised. Perfect for our needs! We are able to fit 2 of these 8’ kayaks inside of our Highlander! No need for roof racks or a trailer! They are also light enough for 2 to manageably carry both a short distance into the water. We found them to be very stable
200 lb weight limt I pushed it to 250 it did fine. Plastic edges are super sharp get some edge protector. Installed a gel seat custion what a relife. For the money much better than I expected. People bash the paddle I did not find it that bad. Get a shorty wet suit and a paddlers life jacket and have fun. I even took my 25lb Dachshund!! He hides under the bow. Easy to drain plug on top.
The kayak itself is ok for beginners or people that can't handle a lot of wt. This is an 8 footer so it's not good for tall/big people. But it's also only 40 lb. so it's easy for 2 of us to carry it to the bank or get in the trunk of the car. The oar however is flimsy, too lightweight and the paddle ends are straight instead of curved. I had to buy a stronger oar because the one that came with the kayak breaks easily, especially if you need to push yourself out of unseen shallow areas you got stuck in.
so this seems like a good buy but it is not. the design is not good. i could not use it because the seat hinge is painful. i tried to adjust it so i could at least test it out but it is not tolerable. Also there is not foot pegs and no room for your legs. pros = its very light, very flat so easy to load and strap cons= painful and uncomfortable
My feet did not fit into the kayak. I couldn’t put them straight out without them hitting the top deck. And ridges inside, made it impossible to slide them over to the middle of the boat. The size was perfect for what I wanted it for, but the edges of the cockpit were extremely sharp,, making it hard for one person to carry by themselves.
