This is a sturdy and well made composter. I bought the bigger size and liked it so much I wanted to get another but I could only find this smaller size, but it still holds a lot of material. Be prepared to spend a good amount of time putting it together, but it is well worth it.

Well built. Easy to tumble. Removable door. Nice!

MicheleGH February 27, 2021

This is my 2nd bin. I love the wide open door, easy to open, and removable when it is time to dump the bin. It is very easy to tumble, too. Take it slow and step-by-step to put it together (love that the screws, etc., are sealed on the white card labeling everything - very nice!) It took some muscle to put it together but I did it by myself (54 year old gal). The self-drilling screws for the legs really don't work well, so had to drill holes first. My first bin is about 10 years old and is still good. The legs have rusted as they sat on the ground, so I recommend setting the legs on pavers, treated lumber, or something similar.

Great customer service

NODDY52 March 31, 2023

I bought a composter about 5 years ago. This year the hinge has rusted through. I emailed Lifetime to see where I could buy a part and to my surprise and delight, they are sending me a replacement to UK for nothing. Excellent support and will make me a repeat customer.

Takes a little time to build but worth it

LeroyTheLips August 23, 2019

I bought two of these about a month apart. The composter works great. Couldn’t believe how fast stuff decomposed. I put mostly vegetable scraps, eggshells and coffee grinds. Building it takes patience. You have to follow the directions carefully. Really some of the best directions I’ve seen but it took me awhile because I wasn’t paying attention. I build things all the time and am mechanically inclined. The second one took 2 hours. I had rusting of the hinge so much it broke. Plus the entire opening mechanism rusted and all metal parts inside. My other composter did not have that problem. Filled out a claim to the company and they immediately took care of it and are sending replacement parts. Great customer service. Glad I choose this composter. Mentioned to my daughter in law and she bought a couple also.

3 hours of your time worth it overall

Composter2 April 5, 2021

I already had one from a few years ago and needed an additional composter. I bought a different company and could tell is wasn't going to hold together, so I went bought another one of these. Yes, it took about 3 hours to put it together both times, but I find the investment worth it.

Love it but It will rust apart!

Me Tucson September 5, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this composter and wish I could give it 5 stars but in a couple years every metal part inside will be totally rusted and disintegrating. This is my 2nd one and I've seen how it goes. If I could find a better product with the large door I would buy it. Hoping they redesign before I need a new one. Also buying all the metal replacement parts is more expensive and a nightmare to replace.

Lifetime Composter

Troalboy June 15, 2020

Bought this several years ago but found the parts that secure the lid rusted out quickly. It got so bad that i had to disassemble the entire lid locking assembly in order to open the lid. My fault for not taking care of it then but now i would like to use it so contacted the support line via email. Support was OK with their response although it took a couple of weeks (cant order parts online) but they did respond and offered the parts for free. The only issue is they are not available. Not sure how long this will take but i would sure would like to use this composter now. guess we will see what happens.

Major Disappointment

GCont October 17, 2025

Like other reviews here, all of the internal metal parts are completely rusted rendering this composter useless within 5 years.

Missing Part - Cannout Use

Rob August 12, 2020

Hard to rate when you cannot use. The Tumbler was shipped missing a critical part than renders the unit worthless without it - the door will not latch closed. Lifetime Customer Service is non existent and I can't reach anyone either by phone or email. If you do buy one, go to the Lifetime website and read the comments with tricks to assemble. The instructions are terrible but if you read the comments they really help.

Cannot be built properly

Mxyzptlk April 10, 2019

I've purchased two of these in my life, they work well but are not possible to assemble correctly. There are many mistakes in the steps and there is no clear direction about how to build the product. The tumbler will not allow you to insert the center rod (DCV) in to the sides (DCZ) so that it is stable. DCV will not fit through the brackets (DDB) that go over DCZ and you will become frustrated trying to make it work. Since DCV won't fit through DDB, the entire product is not stable. It will be ok if you don't bother it too much, but if it leans too much it will result in one side coming off completely. I tried inserting DCV through the DDB bracket but I am not able to get it through without using a hammer, even then, it will immediately come out because you need to secure DDB to DCZ and that pulls DCV out of DDB, rendering the entire effort useless. Since the sides are not close enough to the tumbler, you cannot insert the locking pin in to the tumbler, making the locking pin useless. Unless someone can build this for you who is an expert, don't waste 3 hours of your life on something that will disappoint you. I first purchased one of these tumblers more than 8 years ago and I experienced the same problems when assembling. I had assumed that, over the past 8 years they would correct these issues. I was wrong. The customer service rep was familiar with my concerns and told me how to fix it, but it didn't matter as the fix described above (fit DCV through DDB) does not work. I'm not sure this product is designed to be built properly. You would think that the dozens and dozens of complaints about this exact issue would result in design changes, but you'd be wrong.
