As all lincoln products they all work well. A spool gun to weld aluminum works ok, but don't expect the welds to look like a tig! It takes some practice on scrap before you start on your project. But it does a good job,. As with any welding practice, practice.
Makes welding aluminum easier with no spool issues
Great welder works as it should
Not an industrial production unit but looks good for the garage hobbyist.
Does what it's supposed to do. Takes a little while to get used too.
So far the gun is working fine with the ER4043 wire. When I use the 5356 alloy wire, it's a stiffer wire and tends to un-spool and tangle inside the gun. For the 180 HD welder, I had to install the switch, which was a little tricky. The instructions are not very descriptive as to where the plug-ins belong, but it seems as though all the connections are different and I couldn't go wrong. Hey it works, so I must have done something right. I'm still reading and still learning. I would have given it 5 stars, but the spool cover, and the cover fastener closure screw are cheaply made out of soft, pliable, plastic and seems like it will strip out soon.
This is perfect when you don't need a spool that often or if you are starting out welding. Not too expensive and it does the job.
It's ok to do aluminum 1/8 " but the plastic frame looks so cheap
