I came from a Pro 500 Vitamix and I upgraded to this new Ascent series. It is worth the upgrade and worth the investment. As soon as you open the box you will notice the high quality standard that Vitamix put into this product. I like everything with this blender. At first I thought that the rubber lid will be better, but once you see and hold the new lid, it is very well constructed and the clips on the side is very strong. I like the new container as I noticed that it blends better, less need for the tamper because it is wide and having the huge 4" blade is a plus. It seems that the gears on the container that goes into the drive socket is longer than the old one, which to me it will last longer. The self detect feature is great as well for safety, as you can only run the blender when you place the container on top of the blender base. The blender base is heavy which make it more stable when blending. It is definitely much quieter than the Pro 500 that I had. The rubber pad on the top feels good to the touch which I think helps to reduce the noise. The toggle switch for pulse and start/stop have a great rugged feel to it. The digital timer is one of the great feature of this blender as it shows you for how long you are blending already and when you are using the pre-sets it will show you as to how long it will blend. Overall, this is a great blender. If you want the manual controls, pre-sets, digital timer, the new container and the 10 YEAR WARRANTY!!!. Then, this blender is for you. You can never go wrong with this. I can't wait until the new single single cup container becomes available.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this machine; I love the program settings, and it's a breeze to use and clean. I have an issue with textures and lumpy drinks (dry-heave) - now my smoothies are the smoothest consistency I could have imagined. The red unit looks great on the countertop too. Only thing I would improve is having the dial register a subtle 'click' to acknowledge each speed when you turn it, but that's being very picky. The machine and recipe book are worth every penny, the speed, ease and quality of food we've prepared for our growing family have made this a life-changing investment.

they are requesting i do this review. but i have not had the machine for very long. so its a bit premature to give a accurate review. The biggest negative was the price. Its super expensive. But it is American made. If it were not, i would not have been willing to pay that much for it. i do like the features it has. if you want to make a smoothie, you turn the dial to the picture of the smoothie and press start button and it runs the machine at one speed for several seconds and then speeds up at appropriate time and when its done it stops and the results are the smoothie comes out perfect. with a ordinary blender, you'd have to adjust the speeds manually and check it until you got it where you wanted. but it does have a way to do it manually if you didn't like using their preset settings for smoothie and a couple other items, i forget right now what they are. one thing they could improve on is i am not jazzed about the plastic container. wished it was glass. also the lid has a twist off center cap, which is hard to twist off easily. its somewhat hard to pull up to add some water/juice or some thing through that opening. but overall, thats a minor issue. other thing is when its on full throttle, its kind of loud, like most blenders. possibly future models could be designed to operate more quietly.

My machine arrived about two months ago and I am impressed how smooth the juice made by Vitamix is! I have made juice and smoothie and all work good. It just makes really loud sound and wake everyone up in the morning. It is okay to make juice since it only takes like a minute but if making soup from scratch with the machine, it takes like 5-10 minutes and my family can't stand it(We live in an average sized house but it is still pretty loud) . I still recommend this product to people who would like to drink good juice and smoothies at home.

I knew it was going to be expensive. I bit the bullet and got one and I use it almost every day. It's everything I ever hoped it would be. Some days I use it more than once. I make smoothies, acai bowls, hummus, pesto, almond milk, lots of different soups, and desserts. Very easy and fast to clean up. I have roommates, though, so the noise issue means no early morning smoothies for me. I looked into getting a cover to make it quieter, but those cost more than the Vitamix, itself. The great warranty made the price a little easier to stomach, and people keep commenting on how good I look. I think it's in part because I'm eating more fruits and veggies!

Pros: It's by far the best way to eat vegetables as a meal. For me, it will make a positive difference in my general health. It also makes great smoothies. Cons: It's expensive! To me, the pre-programmed settings are "near" unnecessary because the recipes are really simple. Finaly, it is so noisy that I will not make early smoothies in respect to my neighbors.

After unboxing this blender, I could tell immediately it was low quality. The plastic does not look durable and it shed a couple of little bits. Some may like the suction cups on the bottom, but I find them more of a problem. I have not actually used the blender yet so we will see how that goes.

this is the worst blender and mixer that I have used ever. So much complicated to use and it goes off after every five seconds. Totally not recommended this trash product. Even magic bullet is thousand times better than this blender. Highly not recommend to buy this.i will return it.

I'm in my first trimester, not able to keep anything down and thought smoothies might be easier. It came in yesterday afternoon, tried to use it this morning, and it won't even turn on. I have to use a butter knife to activate the “trigger” on it manually, because the blender doesn't. Needless to say I'm bummed I didn't get my smoothie

Putting your Vitamix on the counter to show it off would be great after spending over $700.00 to buy it but not the way the container reacts after only one month of use. The fact that this problem has been ongoing for quite awhile (and the most frequent complaint to Vitamix) makes me wonder. It turns a foggy grey - to clean it we started with the Vitamix cleaning method, then vinegar and water, bleach and water, denture capsule and water, CLR and water and finally a Mr. Clean magic pad and a lot of elbow grease. We are now using the Vitamix method after every use with warm water, vinegar, water and drying it by hand - not as we were cleaning it after every use in warm soapy water and air drying. The container is also not a warranty item and would only cost you over $200.00 to replace - makes the Vitamix a real deal. Wish I had known about this 2 months ago.
