Lion Brand Hometown Yarn-Highland Park Beige

I use this yarn to make hats for kids with cancer. The hats make up quickly and are cute and warm. I order about a dozen balls a week. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the thickness of the yarn is not consistent from ball to ball. The price is cheaper when I order site to store rather than buying off the shelf, and order by the bundle. The price is very reasonable

This yarn is hands down my favorite to work with. I started using it when I was learning to crochet, as it was much easier for me to learn with big chunky yarn and big crochet hooks. I fell in love with it, though, for winter hats and other warm weather wear. I've now made several hats and scarves for my children and friends. Everyone loves it, and it's super soft, fits snugly, and wears well over time. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that does crochet. I absolutely love it, and have invested a small fortune in it. I have an entire tote full of skeins waiting to be used.

Page says it is 129 yards and 8 ounces. It’s 4 ounces and 64 yards. Based on what it said, I needed a little over one skein so I purchased 2. Now I’ve used those two and will probably need 2 more. Unfortunately, it’s now out of stock in the color I need. It is soft and supposedly washable. It does tend to split strands while crocheting but works pretty easily. I suspect this will become quite an expensive project IF I can find more of this color.

Yard had several places where there was black grease on the yarn. Other places where yarn was untwisted and fuzzy and several knots rather than full continuous skeins.

I ordered this yarn in black first and liked it. It was very cost efficient. So I ordered the Tampa Spice color. In the picture, it looked like an orange-red shade, something like a warm autumn color. But when I received the yarn, it is more like a cranberry color and has a sheen to it. This would be good for a holiday project, such as a Christmas garland. I will repurpose it for another project.

Advertised as 162 yds per skein but it is only 64 yards. Otherwise, it's beautiful and easy to work with.

The yarn arrived quickly and love the color. The label is different than the one pictured and the skeins were only 81 yards though they are advertised as having 162 yards per skein. I have to purchase more now so I have enough for my project and the price will be too low to get free shipping. From product description: Yardage: 162yd solids (129yd prints)

What I liked about Salem creek was the coloring, the way the pink pops out. Subtle but there. The downside? This yarn is thin in comparison to the other Hometown yarns I’ve worked with. I made it work for me and the throw came out beautiful. Just be advised, buy more than you think you need. Maybe 3 extra skeins. They’re 64 yards each. I had no issues with skein knots. All in all I would buy and work with it again. I would just make a few adjustments. For reference I used a size 15mm hook. In hindsight I wish I used a 12mm. Which I’m currently doing with the Hometown LA tan yarn and it’s coming out much more lush and thick.

Gave it 2 stars because it is a nice yarn. I wouldn't quite say it's a super bulky - maybe more a bulky weight yarn. But here's the problem: The product description states its a 10oz skein with 127 yards but it is actaully a 5oz skein with 64 yards. I had the same issue with the solid color I ordered. The product numbers and sku's match what WM has listed, but the item is half the size of what is described. Thought I was getting a good deal, when in fact I paid the same as you would for a 5oz skein.

This is 81 yards, not the 162 described in the product description. Also, if you are getting the "Tampa Spice" color, just know that it is not a dark pumpkin spice or cinnamon color, it is cranberry red. I was really disappointed when I found out that, not only did I get half of what I paid for, but it was the wrong color. It said "Tampa Spice" on the sleeve, but it was definitely red!
