Have always used Liquitex
Black gesso is good to have on hand to change a white canvas to black for Halloween paintings. Works as expected.

VERY EXCITING FIND
this is a very exciting product if you are an artist that does colored pencils or pastel work, it will turn ANY paper or surface into "SANDED" SURFACE. it has a bit of a milky appearance but dries totally clear. It CAN BE COLORED with a little added acrylic pigment if any type. It can be thinned with water. it has a super fine grit in it. you'll save a fortune on colored sanded paper, And its a great rescue if you "lose tooth" in the middle of your work!

Good product
I bought this about a month ago. Used it on a canvas I was working with. It is heavy and holds the texture shape well. I have purchased this before and will again when needed.

Always gesso your canvas
My teacher recommends gesso-ing every canvas even if triple primed. You don't know the quality of the gesso or how it was applied. I use this for canvas' I want black. It works great!!

Mixed with 25% water and applied to any cheap canvas or panel provides a rougher surface to oil paint.

I would buy this project again
I like using the clear gesso. if I choose to rework a canvas, the clear gesso allows me to see the colors below and use them in the new painting.
