Little Giant 800 oz. Water Base For Livestock

I bought 2 of these recently as replacements for Miller waterers whose hinges had rusted out but they were over 35 years old, so I'd say I got my money's worth from the originals. The design has not changed in all these years, so I think it's safe to say it has been a success if Miller hasn't felt a need to make changes. The only problem I ever had with them is the float valves sometimes need adjustment. Eventually the little rubber plugs over the water inlet wear or get pushed in too far and have to be adjusted or replaced. The waterer comes with one extra rubber plug. They lasted so long the plastic shield over the water inlet had to occasionally be replaced because plastic doesn't last forever. It's also possible to replace the entire float assembly if needed. It these new ones last as long as the old ones did, they should be good for at least 20 years!

Coating makes the unit last longer. Average lifespan in our barn without new parts is about 10 years.

We also have strays that come up and they can get a drink as well. I LOVE that it is stainless steel, it's very durable and heavy duty. It has a float on the inside and when the water gets low, it will automatically fill back up. It's so good, I highly recommend this Little Giant Waterer!

Had to replace my old one that was the enamel style and the enamel started to chip off. This one looks pretty sturdy and installed easily in the horse's stall.

These are ok drinkers for about 4 years and then they rust out. Lucky they are cheap enough to keep replacing. We have tried the stainless steel ones at about $75 each and the metal is so thin the animals can tear them up pretty easily so we are stuck with these. Also we live in Southern Calif so I do not recommend the black or dark green drinkers as the water will get very hot and the animals will not drink it.
