They are made of plastic and seem durable, and can withstand rough handling by kids. It helps kids with fine motor skills - like grabbing and molding, encouraging them to think creatively, and build confidence as they master the recipe. We love these kinds of toys where our little ones brains are challenged to be creative! My kiddo is 4 going on 5 and he's obsessed with doing things like this! He loves being able to not only imagine but also do it physically with his hands! This toy allows him to for the patty, assemble the burger however he sees fit, & cut the fries. He's big on helping me cook dinner so this toy is right up his alley! I loved the different options Little Tyke has to choose from and we will definitely be purchasing other kits to add to the cupcake one and this one! We love these kinds Plato like texture because it's easy to mold to what we want!
