I was skeptical buying a set of plants for delivery, but Rosemary is pretty hardy so I gave it a shot.
The results have been impressive. They were quite healthy upon delivery, and they were easy to plant. I have them in pots in San Antonio, Tx which is typically hot and dry. Since I bought these we've had an unusually high amount of rain, so keep that in mind.
I've had them a little less than 3 weeks, and I was out of town for one of them.
They've adapted very well and are already established and expanding. In sum, they are just like any other Rosemary.
I confess that I forget what variety this is, and I lost the tab. I know that in some climates that's important, so maybe be more careful than I was about determining if it's right for your climate zone.
I use a lot of Rosemary in cooking. I am also testing the old wive's tale that Rosemary deters mosquitos.
I am using a super simplistic integrated pest management, and if the Rosemary doesn't help, I just eat the failures. I plan to buy 2-3 more sets for these very reasons.
If I was not planning to buy that many, I would go to a local nursery. I do this for almost all other plants I have... but on a fixed budget, $2 per plant vs. 4 per plant really adds up. But be better than me and buy local as much as you can. They are much, much, much more helpful than most box store helpers. The box store staff are hard workers, but you are as likely to get someone whose speciality is house paint as it is plants.
Local nurseries are familiar down to microclimates. I'm in San Antonio, TX, which is at the convergence of several climate zones. The local nurseries sometimes have recommendations based on the zip code. Yes you pay more. You will get better plants and better outcomes.
But I have a crapton of mosquitoes...
