It is amazing how breads bake on this pan, Golden brown on the bottom every time for biscuits,
To the point, I think it's great. I have other Lodge pans and so spent a little more to stay with a brand I like, and I kinda like that it is made in TN (provides jobs!) I made pizza --I preheated the pan and cooked the dough 3 minutes...I have been obsessed with making dough a pizza place would serve. Done! (bows) Made pancakes the next day, really liked it. Two things -- the more I am using it the better. Cleans better and better. Second, one reviewer said Lodge is not making this anymore. I went on the Lodge website and it's not there. The price is decent, if you are gonna get one I recommend this one. Apparently you better get it now.
I haven't used this one yet, but have used other Lodge pans and been happy with them. I have only put another layer of seasoning on it, just to make sure the food doesn't stick to it. It is heavy, so have some reliable heatproof gloves available to be able to handle it when it's hot.
This is a jack-of-all-trade cast iron cookware. I use it to sear steak, beacon, pancake, eggs, chicken, vegetable, etc. The 14" diameter is just about perfect, plenty of cooking surface to move food around. It is so large that you can never get the entire surface to heat up to the same temperature on the stove top (cast iron does not heat up evenly) and that isn't necessary a bad thing. I was cooking three strips of beacon, a six inch pancake, an egg, and a hamburger meat, and there was still room to toast the hamburger buns all at the same time, so the different zones of temperature (verified by an infrared thermometer) let me do all that on one cast iron cookware. I like it is an one sided cookware so I don't have to worry about the seasoning on the bottom side unlike of my reversible grill/griddle the seasoning on the fire side got burnt off. Lodge has discontinued this product so get it while you can still find it. Highly recommended.
Bought this item for use with a Weber Performer 22" grill. It works perfectly with this grill - size and features (handles). Lodge is known for quality cast iron products, and this product lives up to that perception. Lodge products are made in the USA (in my home state, TN) which also influenced my purchase decision.
Can't beat Lodge for durable cast iron products... Perfect for pizza on the grill, which has become a 'corona' summer favorite. Without question, a good value and made in the USA
I'm a big lover of Pizza. Was unable to find a real good store bought Pizza that you cook at home in the oven. I turned to getting Pizza Dough and making my own Pizza. Researching the best and correct way to do it. Started with a Pizza Stone, Peel and all the other equipment you need to make a good Pizza. Got varied results when making my Pizza and was not completely happy. Then read an article on Cast Iron Pizza Pan and decided to try it. I'm in "Seventh Heaven" as this is the greatest Pizza Pan ever. It makes perfect Pizza. The crust is crispy on the bottom but soft on top. Follow the directions on breaking in the pan which are simple. The Pizza never sticks to the pan and slides right off onto your cutting board/pan. I use a large cookie sheet to cut my Pizza on. Every once in a while just give it a light coat of Vegetable Oil. I also buy my Pizza Dough at Publix Market. You get it two ways. Buy the ball and roll it out yourself or they make for you all rolled out. (slightly more expensive) I buy the rolled out ready to go but I roll it out more to fit my Pizza Pan which is a little larger. We have had guest over for Pizza Party's and everyone has raved about how good the Pizza is. If you want crispy Crust, make sure you cook on the bottom rack in your oven. I cook at 490 degrees about 15-18 minutes. It will vary depending on your oven. It to me a couple of trys to get it right. The pan is great.
Bought this to roast vegetables and make pizzas. Only used once so far to fry bacon. You should cook high fat foods for the first 6 or 7 times to help the pores close from additional seasoning of the pan. Worked well with the bacon. Love Cast Iron for cooking.
Great pizza pan. Very happy with it.
All around good pan. Wish it was thicker.
