I think this a genius instrument. If you want to tap out melodies while you meditate, you can I guess. Or you can lay the mallets down, and put your hands on it, and it becomes a synthesizer. so maby endless possibilities for rhythm parts, harmony, even discord. A very raw instrument. I am very happy with it. I use it in a kit of my own design, including a bongo cajon and snare stomp box. as i add more to it, the tongue drum will still be the piece I go to for that accent, a lot like most drummers use cymbals. such an amazing instrument. put some steel in your wheel!

Bought this drum for 11 year old grandson who has Down Syndrome. It is a quality instrument especially for the price. The sound is so calming and it is easy for him to play. And is calming for his family too. Things can get quite noisy with 2 boys in the house!! From American who appreciates Canada!!!

Lovely sound turns on my happy brain. compact and storage bag is very useful. My cat likes to sit in the bag. worth the money.

We have ordered 7 of these in total now, all in different colors. It was interesting to note the variations in the carrying cases, and contents. (nothing bad) All the drums were pretty consistent in build. The biggest thing we noticed is that the drums that have a shiny finish sound better than the ones that have a textured finish. We love these drums so much that we wrote a music book (30 Traditional Hymns) and published it on Amazon so that we could give them as gifts to our family who we gifted the drums to.

Would have gotten five stars if the strap on the carrier had not broken. :'( The item we got was: "Lomuty Steel Tongue Drum 11 Notes 12 inches with Bag, Music Book, Mallets and Bracket (Navy)" Got this for my son as a graduation gift, and he absolutely loved it! After playing it for quite some time in the living room, he decided to finally pack it up in the carrying case it came with to take it upstairs to his room. This was the *FIRST TIME* he had used it, and upon walking up the stairs, the strap to the case SNAPED and *down* tumbled the new steel drum! T^T Sadly, this caused some of the drum to be out of tune. But thankfully Walmart is pretty awesome with its return policy, and they allowed us to return it for a full refund. Once we did that, I immediately went back online to purchase another one. ^_^ Only this time we definitely won't be using the carrying case it comes with! *Definitely recommend. the DRUM* :)

Looks nice, color is pretty. However it produces reverb on several notes, and other notes can barely be heard. Also the number labels were applied with a sticky adhesive which is sticking out from under the label on a few of them. Afraid to just pull it off bc it might remove the whole label.

out of tune, needs to be tuned but instructions are extremely small print and difficult to determine how to correct it.
