As someone with terrible acne this is a true full coverage foundation. I get so many compliments on my make up “it's like your face has a filter on it” 100 % recommend this to anyone has red marks discoloration or acne! Would love to know what everyone is pairing this with!
My skin tone is about somewhere between Beyonce and Janet Jackson. I find 109 too dark and 108 too light so I blend them. The foundation itself is wonderful. I love the coverage and the matte finish. I have combination skin and it stays on in this southern heat too.
This is hands down the holy grail of foundation! I get compliments DAILY on the look of this makeup and how smooth my skin looks! I worked in Cosmetics for years and NOTHING has ever compared to the finish, the longevity and ease of application as THIS foundation! I recently ordered a Clarins foundation at 3x the price that settled in my pores and separated on my almost 50 year old skin that is very oily! Ladies... GET this makeup NOW. It's a game changer.
Even though I'm not a fan of medium coverage foundations, this foundation has a beautiful finish & stayed fairly matte throughout the day. but I wish the darker shades had more undertones than just red. I uploaded a video comparing the pro matte foundation to the Total Cover foundation and I was very pleased with the results. Full review is on my YouTube: Mary LeMuse
I bought the shade 101 (the lightest shade) about a month ago and have been using it almost daily since then. I love this product because I have very oily skin, so this product is one of the few that stays on my face throughout the day. However, there are two major problems, both relating to the color. The first problem is that it oxidizes and turns a bit darker and much more pink toned after drying. That type of shade likely a works well for redheads with a bit of a tan, so that problem wouldn't be a big deal if there were other undertone options for fair skinned people. Despite being quite pale, my skin has a very olive undertone, so my face does not match my neck at all when I use this foundation, but yet I use it most days because it has good enough coverage to conceal my acne scars and is long-wearing enough to not patch off unless I touch my face too much. The second problem is that there needs to be more shades, not just more undertones. Besides being too pink for me, 101 is a bit too dark once it dries. I have blonde hair, brown eyes, and my skin still has a very slight tan, so I know that there are many others who find the lightest shade to be too dark. This is such an amazing product that they need to come out with many more shades and group the shades based on undertone (warm, neutral, and cool) like they did with their True Match line. Sorry for the crazy long review. By the way, this foundation dries and sets very quickly so you must apply it quickly and make sure it's well blended. If you try to blend areas that are drying or have already dried, you'll just move the product and create an ugly patchy mess.
Why, L'oreal?! Why did you change the formula? This used to be the best foundation I've ever tried and I used it for years. I have oily, pigmented, textured skin and this is the only foundation I've ever used that made my skin look smooth and air brushed, while lasting alllll day and feeling lightweight. It was perfection!! I've gotten so many compliments on my skin while using it. I got the new red bottle and wow, it is way too matte, almost chalky looking. Please bring back the old formula. I'm so sad that I have to go on a hunt and spend a bunch more money trying to find a new foundation.
My favorite all time foundation was Infallible Total Cover - Sun beige. It's been discontinued and I've tried several other products, but I hate them all. I'm older. Infallible Total Cover sun beige was perfect for me and no matter which Sun Beige product I've tried, They are either too heavy or they don't blend well into my skin. After more than 30 years, I am finally going to change brands.
I am very sad that the formula was changed. I ran out of my last bit that I had in the all black packaging. Went to purchase a new one with the new packaging and the color is completely different. I am in shade 103 and this new formula makes me look extremely ORANGE!
The new formula is horrible!! I new the moment I would put on my makeup it was horrible and I couldn't pinpoint as to why it wasn't the same smooth finish I always had until I noticed the difference and it was no longer demi matte. I'm honestly disappointed that the formula has changed after years of purchasing. The formula leaves you're face looking patchy, dry and is hard to blend with a brush or a beauty blender.
Ran out of this foundation (black cap) and bought the new one (red cap) and found it to be awful! The shade is not the same as the black cap series and new formula is awful!! Caked on my face and creases everywhere even having used a primer. Please change back to the old formula!!!!
