I wish they made this Lowensenf even hotter. I love this Dusseldorf mustard. I've been to Dusseldorf where thay make this mustard. Beautiful place on the Rhein River.
Has a hidden sharpness, that adds to its flavor and not just heat. Very smooth and takes very little for the full powerful flavor that will enhance any meat. Best on sausage and especially ham and pork chops
I was introduced to this mustard a few years ago by a neighbor who served it at a party....I LOVED it, and have used no other mustard since that time. I love the robust taste and how it makes everything just a lot tastier. My favorite condiment!
The stuff is the best and Walmart offers a very good price for it. The label says Extra under the name, and says Extra Hot in small print on the back of the label. But this mustard is not hot at all, at least not for American standards. It is a medium heat with the best flavor ever. It is the perfect match for those traditional white bratwursts from a German deli.
I ordered this mustard through walmart.com from a marketeer named Home Free which has all sorts of gocery items. This is not a mustard which is readily available. It is much liked by native Germans (which my hasband is) and I've had to either order it on line or go to a German deli in Danbury, CT which carries this mustard. However it is a 25 mile drive each way so with the price of gas being what it is, I did not want to do that. Went looking on line again, first to amazon.com where I coujld buy it at a pretty good price but there was significant shipping (like $6-$8 for one 9.5 oz jar!). Looked at the German deli in Danbury and they are asking $9.99 a bottle. Then somehow walmart.com popped up with a link so I followed it and found this Home Free website. They are selling this mustard in a 6 pack for $33.13 and with a $45 order I would get free shipping. Found something else which I needed at a competitive price to our local grocery stores and added it to the order which then gave me the free shipping This mustard at the German deli or on line at amazon for 6 bottles would have run almost $60. I paid $33.13! Totally incredible! On top of everything else, I ordered it on 8/4 and got if shortly after 9 AM today on 8/7, delivered by FedEx. Incredible service by Walmart, Home Free and FexEx. My other product should be here by tomorrow.
Yummy mustard, but it is not very hot.
I visited Duesseldorf, Germany last year, and a friend sent me home with two jars of Lowensenf; one Regular and one Extra. We really liked how hot the Extra was. However, the Lowensenf Extra for export and resale by Walmart is apparently toned down a bit. In fact, it tastes very similar to the Regular style from Germany. But it is very good brown mustard, and I would recommend it to others.
I received the six pack of Lowensenf quickly on February 3, 2021, but it was expired August 30, 2020
We just returned from an extended stay in Germany. In the German restaurants this mustard by Lowensenf is served proudly. This is NOT the true German version. This is the export mix of ingredients. It is far more bland than the real spicy German mustard (senf). The true German mustard will make your eyes water and your nose run. This version will not ever get close to that. If you like bland condiments, this version will suit you just fine. However, if you like the true taste of Germany, then contact Lowensenf in Dusseldorf, Germany and have them send you the German product. Overall, I will not throw out the case of this mustard but I will make sure it is out front whenever we have guests or an outdoor cookout.
Good mustard; however, the seller sold me a six-pack with a best before date of February 1, 2021. Just Super Annoyed.
