Updated review

Lolo June 12, 2014

In my previous review I was explaining how poorly this device was built. Basically the bell had such a rough edge that it was cutting through the membrane. Carolina medical contacted me as soon as I wrote my review. They sent me for free a new membrane to fix my unit. They talked to the manufacturer and explained the problem. So it looks like the new models will not have that problem. I am very impressed by how Carolina Medical took care of business. It was fantastic. I give them a 99/100. Why not a full 100? well, because the replacement membrane was way thinner than the original. I know, I am a tough customer, but I will keep buying from Carolina, they know how to take care of their customers.

Life Saver!

sci4brla April 6, 2011

I was so glad to find this product. We have two lung models and the latex on both was torn and worn out. This was such a money saver and was extremely easy to replace. Thank you for keeping budgets in mind!

Effectively demonstrates ventilation

Nazish October 12, 2018

They have been bought for the lab I work in a few months back. I used them (6) for my A&P class this week. They are simple yet effective in demonstrating how diaphragm helps with inhalation and exhalation. The students liked it, I saw their comments in lab report and discussion about how this model helped them get a grasp of the concept. Did not give five stars as I am not sure how long the product will last. I used it the first time.

Coud be better

Ness March 17, 2022

Came nicely packaged but doesn't really blow up the balloons because its hard to grasp the bottom (diaphragm) to increase the volume of the container

Have to replace the diaphragm every year.

TJ84 May 29, 2019

I have bought this product at two different schools in the last 35 years of teaching. I love the product but I do have to replace the diaphragm every year as it gets brittle and tears after just one use in my A&P class.

Poorly engineered

LaurentP May 13, 2014

It could have been a great product but it is very poorly engineered. The rim onto which the membrane is attached is very sharp, so when you use the product, after a while the rim cuts through the membrane and the product is destroyed. Mine did not last 2 school years.

The rubber got brittle and broke after a couple months and no one used it.
