This is a really sturdy and sharp knife that has really helped improve my kitchen prep time. The cleaver is made of a solid piece of stainless steel which allows for better control. The handle grip feels firm which I can appreciate when chopping up not only veggies, but breaking down bones, cutting corn on the cob into smaller pieces etc.
The image below has some water stains on it (probably a function of some hard water in the house and not of the steel / quality of the knife / cleaver itself. The fact that the knife is also dishwater safe is an added plus, though I typically wash it by hand just to maintain the knife's integrity. We really do use the knife for all purposes...whether it's chopping, cutting, cleaving, it's multi-functional and very handy.
I haven't had a chance to sharpen the knife yet, but we may not need to do so if it sustains itself over the next few months / years. Definitely a great and handy tool for any chef!
