I'm a huge fan of retro gaming. I've recently moved on to my N64 but, I have never liked the OEM game controller design. Too awkward to hold and the analog stick is in a strange location. I spent some time researching replacement controllers with a more modern design. I came across some really great designs but they were costly. Then I found this Luxmo N64 controller. It was priced for around $10, so I figured I'd give it a try. If I didn't like it, I could just chuck it. When it arrived, the packaging was pretty generic and packing material was a simple plastic mold but the controller looked exactly as advertised and had no damage. My first impression was it felt good in my hands. Button clicked well and the analog stick was springy and had a rubber nub, a huge upgrade on the OEM controller. Now it was time to test it. I went to my favorite Kart racing game and WOW! The controller response was perfect. Button felt great and the analog stick was a nice upgrade. It also has two Z buttons under the right and left shoulder buttons to give you more options. It was a noisy controller with lots of clicking sounds but that no different than the OEM controller and didn't bother me. I have big hands so the grips felt a little tight but wasn't much of a bother. The expansion port under the controller is felt by your fingers but that's to be expected with the compact design. But for $10 I was so impressed that I order 3 more to have a full set for some fun gaming with friends. It also offered 6 different color options, in line with original OEM color choices. I haven't had this controller for very long, so I can't speak to its longevity but I highly recommend it for the price. I'm sure the more expensive ones are better built but again, $10.
These are so much better to use than my original N64 controllers, works with rumble and memory cards. Golden-eye and snowboard kids are so much better to play now!
Everything was perfect!
I own a blue Nintendo 64 so I wanted a matching controller. An OEM blue controller is super expensive so I purchased this as a more affordable alternative. I actually like the shape of these compared to the original controllers and this brand plays well too. The stick feels nice and tight and all the buttons are responsive. I also think the color looks great too. So far I'm happy with it!
Works great and looks exactly like the picture. Worth the money!
