The product is just what I anticipated, except I think the arms are not nearly 21" as described. On the other side, several reviews complain that the desk mount is too shallow, making it unstable under the weight of the arm and microphone. After reading the reviews, I'm not sure if the manufacturers addressed this issue, but I thought the desk mount was ideal—deep enough and solid.
DISCLAIMER: Because I didn't own this stand for a long time, some of the things I've mentioned here might turn out to be untrue in the future. This is a beautiful stand.Due to its 4 lb. weight limit, I was able to install a dslr camera on it with no problems. It's also quite lengthy. The finest feature is the pricing. It costs at least $10 less than other stands with comparable specifications.I didn't get the chance to use it for a long time, but definitely give it a shot.
I spent days researching these before purchasing one that didn't function properly.Since there isn't enough space to clip on the edge of my desk, I mounted it to the desk instead (given the angle, I don't think it would function as a wall mount). The Hyperx Quad cast I have is fantastic.Anywhere I placed it, it holds it.Stop looking if you're looking for a desk mount and get this one.
The metal rings that mount the springs to the arm will occasionally become briefly caught on one of the arms during certain movements and then snap back, producing a very loud and jarring "TWAAAAAAAAAAAANG" noise that will be picked up on your mic (even if you have a good quality shock mount) because it's just *that* loud. If you move the mic around a lot while recording (especially if you're doing something live, i.e. not pre-recordedGo with the more expensive springless ones if you can.If you can't buy a better one, attempt to avoid the positions that will cause the rings to catch by being aware of them. It's not that horrible overall. It mostly stays in place. Microphones like the Blue Yeti, the final tiny arm—the one the microphone actually mounts upon—has a harder time doing so. If you want that mic to stay in place, you'll need to ***really*** torque that wingnut down, and even then, it may still fall down.I enjoy this position a lot.Because of its low price, I wasn't sure if it would be stable enough for my heavy microphone, but it most surely is.Additionally, it has two installation options and is quite simple to set up.Very wise purchase
Functions great and supports my Rode NT1A without a problem.Drilling into the desk is certainly advised for a secure mounting location because the desk clamp is a touch weak but it still functions as long as you don't move the stand around too much.
This microphone arm appeared like it would give my computer desk additional length, so I bought it.When stretched, the arm's length and reach were superb and met my expectations. The arma includes a clamp-style clip or a screw-down type that may be fastened to a surface.A rod protrudes from the bottom of the arm and is secured to the clamp with the help of another knob. The tiny threads on the top of the arm or the large threads on the bolt with a gold appearance can be used to attach microphones.I inserted my mic holder precisely using the huge gold thread. Both the wrist and the elbow of the arm have a knob for tightening.Even though my hands feel stiff, my arm still moves freely and stays put in whichever position I need it to.I hope my illustration aids you in choosing a mic arm for yourself.
This mic mount was simple to set up and has a very long range across my desk.No matter how high or low I set my blue Yeti mic on the mount, it holds it in place with ease.
It is ideal when you have a wide desk or need to reach farther than normal because it is larger than typical mic arms.built stably.
Although I liked the $13 Newer mic arm I previously owned, I wanted something a little bit longer. It was stated that this product's "Boom size: 42.5"," which sounded ideal.Sadly, it's not even close to that long. The desk clamp is another aspect of this product that I don't like. It's quite flimsy. When I would grab the arm, the clamp would sort of move about. The tiny rubber pad that was supposed to protect your desk or shelf was entirely smashed as a result of my subsequent tightening of the screw. And lastly, even though my microphone, a Rode NT5, isn't particularly hefty, the springs were too powerful for it.The bottom springs unfortunately cannot be modified, however the top springs can.Additionally, while you can unclip one of the bottom springs to adjust the tension, the spring cannot be removed; it must dangle off one end.I'm not taking away any stars for that, just pointing out that if you are even remotely interested in angling the lower part of the arm close to horizontal, you need to have a heavy microphone because the arm will probably support your microphone.
As you can see from the picture, it's really good, and it's long enough.Great results. They should have included 4 Velcro tie downs, thus I had to use zip ties. This is why I docked them one point. The cable hangs loose because the Velcro ties are too lengthy for the cable Blue supplies, thus I had to use zip ties once again.Additionally, I had to bind the butterfly screws with a pair of pliers because they are so rigid. According to some, the arm doesn't fit snugly into the tabletop mount (the mount you have to bolt on the top of the desk).I specifically purchased this arm for this option, and it fits well there with no problems. If you want a robust, multifunctional product, this arm is an excellent choice.
