Great rack for small cargo

GeologyProf November 28, 2013

This is my second purchase. It mounts easily to the brake bosses, but even if you lack bosses, as I did on my street bike, it's okay to use stainless cable ties. This rack is light, and sturdy and allowed me to relocate my handlebar bag.

hardware and instructions are a little confusing. Sturdy rack for the front tire though. Dont know WHAT I'd put on there yet---but a pretty strong rack

Need a challenging bike repair project? This is it

webrumor September 13, 2013

Measures 'bout 9.5 X 6 inches. Light weight. Top rack tubes hollow, struts solid. All aluminum. Most hardware included. The instructions are ok, but once you get into the install, be prepared. I used my bike repair stand, dremel tool, and my own nuts/bolts/washers and common sense. Folks have an issue with this rack due to the attachment at the side pull brake anchors. The rack uses L brackets that come delivered, riveted to the rack. When you try to adjust the rack so that Bracket A clears your front brake cable, the rivets will break off from the rack. What now? cut off or grind off both rivets on the rivet attachment side. Then, using a punch, knock out the rivet head. Now your ready to assemble. use your own hardware for attaching the two angle brackets at the rack and the brake attachment points. Bracket A (it's called that in instructions) needs some bending, and it does not seem to have alot of integrity, but time will tell. The first time you do this install, it will test your patience. After the first one, EZPZ. Instruction sheet indicates rack will not take much weight. However, with my install, rack has done very well with not so light loads: primarily buckets of weighty vegetables. I rode with the bungeed load for a few miles as well. No issue. Note: instructions indicate you may install the rack on rear of bike. I'm sure you could, but why? full size rear racks are far easier to install and hold more weight. This little front rack worked as advertised and was dirt cheap.

quality, solid rack; instructions/adapters ltd.

Nearly returned rack before I found my needed mounting hardware from an online source. Modified/removed two angle brackets and mounted directly to separately-purchased clamps on fork arms. Bent included bracket to mount to brake bolt. Finished rack rock-solid; quality product.

Utter Fiction

SDQI February 27, 2014

I got one. The weight limit (max capacity) of the rack is not shown anywhere on the whole Internet (esp. Wal-Mart site), but is stated as 5kg (10 lbs) in the instructions. The Wal-Mart product title says specifically this rack is useable with panniers. The instructions in the box say not to: that cargo must be carried directly on the rack. A front pannier set, empty, weighs about 4 pounds. This is almost half the stated capacity of the rack. Front panniers sets are built to pack about 50 pounds. Even if the product promised to work with panniers, you could only carry them almost empty. What's going on here?

I recieved this front bike rack with great expectations to quickly install it on my bike. However the instructions where so poor both in pictures and in writing that I was unable to assemble. No parts list included. Instructions looked to be photocopied about 100 times and where at best very poor. I believe there was parts missing but was unable to tell. Very poor product presentation. Could not say if product would work.
