The controls are very simple but like every oven the cleaning can be challenging this oven came with my house 13 years ago. The oven still works perfectly fine preheating get slower after the years. It looks tiny, but it packs a punch, unlike the preheating the oven, the stove, top hot extremely fast. I can confirm that this oven looks a little bit old. It looks like you might find it in your grandparents basement just sitting there, but this is reliable product
I bought this about six weeks ago. It cooks fine, but needs improvement in several areas, I feel. Inconvenience Number 1: Setting the temperature for baking is a problem. I should be able to enter the temp I want, and it automatically heats up to that temp. With this oven, I enter the temperature, and then the display tells me to 'push on'. There are two problems with this: the first is, I shouldn't have to push any more buttons, beyond what I want the temp to be. The second problem is, when I do push the 'on' button, it turns out to be for the timer, not the temperature. The display needs to be changed to say to 'push start', not 'push on'. Inconvenience Number 2: Having to push the button for the oven light to see the contents of the oven when I open the door. All other ovens I've ever used, the light comes on automatically when I open the door, and goes off automatically when the door is closed. If I want the light on when the door is closed, then I push the button for the light to come on. Inconvenience Number 3: Having to push 'on' after setting how many minutes I want on the timer. I should just be able to enter the minutes, and that should be it. With this oven, you need to push 'on' before the timer starts. Inconvenience Number 4: The drip pans. There are two problems with these. The pans are made so the burner needs to be unplugged before the drip pan can be removed to be cleaned. That makes cleaning them difficult, as unplugging each burner, to remove the pan, is a step that shouldn't have to be made. Also, by unplugging or plugging in the burner so often, it weakens the plug, making the burner loose, and eventually breaking at the plug. If the drip pans were easy to remove, without having to unplug the burner, it would be much easier to clean, and the plugs wouldn't weaken and break. The second problem with the drip pans is the material they are made from. They stain easily. They should be made of stainless steel, so cleaning them is easy. I bought this oven so my daughter could further her cooking experiences. She did very well on a similar electric coil Kenmore, but this oven has confused ME, not to mention her.
The drip pans are of poor quality, immediately developing spots difficult to remove. 3 of the 4 elements are unevenly raised where they come out from the plug-in, causing the pot or pan to distribute eg. oil and an egg to slide to one part of the pan. One element does not set tightly into the drip pan also causing unevenness, especially when using a small pan. I chose GE because I'd used a similar stove for 22 years till the oven element died. I am very
This is the first new appliance I've had in 25 years, so you can imagine my disappointment when it was fully installed and I took of the last pieces of protective cardboard to find a gouge in the paint (down to the metal) on the front of the top. I was within the time limit to return it, but had absolutely no way to haul it back to the store. Customer service did send me a free vial of touch-up paint, but it is still noticeable to me. Also, NONE of the four burner coils lay flat. I have to wiggle them around every time I use them, then they pop back up when I remove the pan that was on them and they stay that way until I use them again. The stove was a retirement present to myself and I hope my retirement is of better quality than the stove! Other than that, it bakes nicely.
Purchased new GE electric range Dec 2015. Wanted a quality, made-to-last, basic range; no frills, gadgets, or high tech/expensive parts or repairs. DRIP PANS - Black enamel drip pans have rust where burner brackets sit. Washed with cloth & non-scour sponge only yet enamel has chips, dull spots, and a never-clean-look visible on both top & under sides. At this rate, we will have to buy new pans every year. SELF-CLEANING OVEN - feature is a waste. It takes less time to clean by hand + oven is truly clean. KEY PAD AREA - good luck ever having that area truly clean. Soap & water on a cloth or non-scour sponge aren't enough but anything else will scratch/remove print. I'm disappointed that the Craftsmanship and Quality are not like my old GE appliances that lasted 20 years.
Everything worked , it looked good but when i went to clean it the first day to burn off the normal manufacturing oils and whatever it stunk the whole house up so bad my wife said "get that thing out of here.." Now its not just a stinky smell it was a noxious stink !!!..so needless to say anybody want a used 5 minute brand new stove? Its on my porch waiting to be picked up. She wont allow it in the house...it still smells (outside) 2 days after i ran the cleaning cycle for 5 minutes only. Its winter here so the windows and doors were open and 2 days the smell finally got out of the house but the stove still smells sitting on the porch !!
I've had this self cleaning GE range for 3 months now, today is the first time that I have tried setting it on self-cleaning to clean. After about 10 minutes , there was the awfuliest smoke and horrible smell filling my kitchen up, and then I heard a loud noise coming from the inside of the oven and it was blazing on fire! Oh my god , the oven has caught on fire and is blazing all inside and the house is filled up with smoke and stinking smell. If it had not been for my grown son being here with me, my whole house would of caught on fire and burned down. He pulled it out from the wall and unplugged it , but the fire was still blazing inside for a few minutes. I've called the store and the warranty and manufacture and can't get any help right now. Today is New years Day and I can not even cook my dinner now!
I've had nothing but problems with this range. The coil burners pop up and will not fit securely in place. Pots are lopsided. Technician said this is a reoccurring problem with the stove. They replaced the coils two times and still the same. The coils stain and scratch easily. The bottom drawer is hard to pull open as there is not a handle. It wobbles when you push it closed. The drip pans stain easily and are not easy to clean. I would not recommend this oven.
The oven temperature shown on the top of the stove does not match the temperature in the oven. It is always 100 degrees different. Repair man said that is how it works, when it says 350, give it 20 more minutes and it will be that temperature. Brand new stove and the temp reading does not match the temp in the oven. Totally unacceptable.
I really do not like this stove. I'm disappointed in the sheer cheapness of it,mostly. When I turn on the oven, for example, to bake a small roast with some potatoes,(set for maybe 350 degrees), I cannot even touch the metal in the middle on the top of the stove, it gets SO HOT.As if the company has never heard the word "insulation". Also, I really hate the "handle" on the bottom storage drawer. It is slippery!! Very, very small indent for fingers to catch & hold onto, and on the TOP of the drawer yet,!! Lmost impossible to use. Glad I don't really have fingernails, they'd break for sure trying to use that drawer. I hope whoever thought THAT one up, doesn't get any sleep for about a week, it's so badly engineered & made. The side of the "carcass" of this stove, (can't think what else to call it), on the bottom end of the right front side, is very, very loose, feels---and looks-- like it will come apart any day now. Last but not least,I figured I'd be able to find,& buy, upgraded drip pans for the stock extremely chintzy shiny metal ones, (maybe nice procelain ones?), since my entire purpose for giving up my Top-of-the-Line smoothtop GE stove to buy THIS thing, was so I could CAN my garden produce. It's so cheaply made, I am afraid to can on it now...
