Fabulous Sausage!
Our friends invited us for dinner a week or so ago and they served these grilled sausages with Alstertor's Dusseldorf-style mustard (found in the German section at Walmart ... the jars have handles on them), a mild sauerkraut/onion/apple dish, German Potato salad, and fresh bratwurst rolls (from Walmart's bakery section). Everyone raved about these sausages (and everything else) and we all over-ate because the food was just too delicious! My husband insisted I recreate the dinner as soon as possible. Since my friends said they had purchased all of the food at Walmart, I went to three Walmarts in our city the very next day looking for this wonderful sausage, but was unable to find it. I found it today on the Walmart website, but it said these sausages were out of stock at all of our local stores (even the one that was 20 miles away!). Do not be put off by the bright red color; these sausages are FABULOUS! Lean, juicy, and very smoky with a skin that snaps and a bratwurst-like texture ... my mouth is watering just describing them! We sure hope Walmart gets more of this sausage ASAP or we'll have to find out how to order them online from anywhere we can get them!
