I absolutely love Mahatma Gluten-Free Enriched Extra Long Grain White Rice! This rice cooks up perfectly every time and has become a staple in my kitchen. The grains are nice and fluffy, with great texture — never mushy or clumpy when prepared correctly. I use it with everything from stir-fries to simple weeknight dinners, and it always delivers. I also appreciate that it’s gluten-free and versatile, fitting easily into different dietary needs and recipes. The nutrition enrichment is a bonus, and the price is unbeatable for the quality you get. Whether you’re making a family meal or meal-prepping for the week, this rice checks all the boxes. Highly recommend — I’ll definitely be buying it again! 🍚💛
Looking for a non-GMO rice, and this is what I found. The brand is tasty, and you will notice a difference between the preparstion (rinsing), cooking, and taste. It is worth the added expense.
Rice that's gluten free? That's what it says on the listing. I don't usually buy long grain "gotta cook it" rice but my microwave was my assistant and it all turned out great. Cooked rice far out wins the instant one and to smell it cooking was a memory that rushed back. Microwave instructions were right one so I have no complaints.
I prefer Mahatma extra long grain for a basic (non-jasmine, non-basmati) rice. I cook it in a small (1.5 qt) Revere ware saucepan with a tight fitting lid—who needs a rice cooker/steamer?! As long as I measure carefully and cook at the correct low temp setting (slowest simmer) it comes out perfect every time. Sometimes I adjust the basic recipe downward but that’s not a problem if I measure correctly (I use a slightly more water—about 2.4 c— for 3/4 cup raw rice to yield about 2.25 cooked rice).
My mother disliked cooking and it was certainly never her forte, but she made perfect rice. She always used Mahatma. If my mother could consistently cook it well, who am I to question it. I, too buy Mahatma.
Only brand my mother bought when I was growing up. Yes, I’ve tried others but prefer this brand. Always comes out perfect
Always cooks up great either in my rice cooker or on the stove in recipes.. here is a couple of quick spanish rice dishes... one with chicken and one with ground beef, and an asian chicken and peanuts meal with steamed rice
I have been using this rice for years. For a long time it was only available out West and my brother who lives in San Diego sent it to me. I later found out "Carolina Rice" is the same product with a different label! I used that for a while. Since finding Mahatma on the web site I switched back to it. Mahatma/Carolina rice is a very good product, and I really like it.
The Mathatma Enriched Extra Long Grain White Rice is a pretty good quality of rice. The package doesn't tell you what kind of long grain rice it is so it could be different depending on supply at the time of processing but most likely Jasmine, Basmati or American long-grain rice, possibly others. It's not a starchy rice ao it doesn't stick very much and is more flakey.
Some family came out and visited and made sticky rice with this. It was so good! Now I know her secret recipe and I can make all sorts of creations. It has a good consistency and taste.
