Bought this spatula because it is silicone (with nylon base), last one left on store shelf, on clearance for about $2.50. Didn't expect much, thought I would probably use it once or twice and toss it, but as it turns out, it's GREAT and is now my favorite spatula! I use it on Blue Diamond nonstick frypans, stainless steel regular frypans and crepe pans, and on the Scanpan griddle that I use most of all. Using it, I have yet to break a yolk flipping a fried egg, which used to happen from time to time with my nylon and stainless steel spatulas, and it's lovely for turning eggs into omlettes, as well as for flipping crepes. pancakes, and French toast. I don't eat meat, but have used it successfully for turning bacon, steak, and grilled sandwiches for my family. The handle is sturdy and the slotted turner is gentle, but effective, especially if sprayed lightly with oil before turning fried eggs. I wash it by hand and in the dishwasher, too. Best $2.50 I ever spent! Highly recommend.
Great price and great quality, feels real nice in hand, solid one piece, no junction parts that can trap food in, with this low price for a silicone one I can't complain, I like the angle better than my old one, this angle turns food in pan better, not for pots, one thing I would like it to be more ideal is the length, shorter than my old one, kinda on the short side, but works, not a deal breaker.
We were staying in a rented cottage that came with only plastic utensils. I prefer silicone so I bought this to use while on vacation. A silicone spatula offers several advantages over a plastic one: 1. **Heat resistance**: Silicone spatulas can withstand high temperatures (usually up to 500°F or more) without melting or warping, making them ideal for cooking and baking. Plastic spatulas can melt when exposed to high heat. 2. **Durability**: Silicone is more flexible and long-lasting compared to plastic, which can crack or become brittle over time. 3. **Non-stick surface**: Silicone spatulas are less likely to scratch non-stick cookware, while some plastic spatulas can damage the surface. 4. **Hygiene**: Silicone is non-porous, meaning it won't absorb food odors, flavors, or bacteria, unlike some plastic utensils which can retain stains and smells. 5. **Easy to clean**: Silicone spatulas are dishwasher safe and easier to clean due to their non-stick and non-absorbent nature. 6. **Safety**: Silicone is generally considered food-safe and free of harmful chemicals like BPA, which may be present in some plastics.
Good spatula. Was tired of metal, one scratching up my pants and tired of plastic nylon melting in the pan. Silicones the best for cleaning:nonstick
Easy to use and easy ro wash, non-stick
This is a study spatula. Would like to get one a little smaller.
larger than expected. seems durable
I do like it but for eggs, they just kind of slip off making it hard to flip them. Also, you can't use it to cut through a stick of butter to put in a pan. On a positive, the eggs don't stick to it so you can wash it easier than a plastic one.
It was a little too thick making turning an omelet over difficult as it wouldn't slide under it easily.
Price wise it is okay. I was hoping it would have been softer so it won't scratch my new pans. I like the color it matches my kitchen.
