I started making hand knitted blankets during the pandemic while I was pregnant. Originally, I used expensive yarn from Michael’s and have since realized this works better. I’ve made blankets or throws for family and friends and everyone prefers this yarn. They have great color choice although the white does seem to have a different “chunkiness” to it. I still use it. We love the texture and the warmth it provide.
I have purchased 4 to 5 orders of this light pink chunky Chenille yarn! It is the perfect color, light pink, a great quality yarn, at the most reasonable price I can find anywhere else! If you order over $35, you get free shipping, which is the best deal, that I found for chunky yarn. The blanket in the picture is 40 x 50 sized blanket. The loom knit pattern that I did was a double sided and it turned out to be 2 inches thick and it took me 12 skeins of yarn. The next time I did it, I did a different pattern I made it looser and it was only one inch thick and it only took me 10 skeins of yarn. I bought several of these Zippy Loom knits and and I joined them all together until I had 40 inches wide. I like to use these zippy looms because, I can add more pieces to make a bigger sized blanket, or I can take them apart and make a smaller sized blanket. Uppercase designs also has a great wooden one and she has a lot of great videos on YouTube that show you how to cast on and cast off and make these chunky knit blankets:)
I used this to hand knit a blanket. It is exactly like yarn I have purchased at big box craft stores. I usually use coupons and member rewards at the craft stores. Walmart's yarn is way less expensive even when compared to the prices I paid using coupons/discounts at craft stores. I wish this yarn came in more colors. That's the only downside.
Great yarn for chunky soft blankets. Keeps you warm and cozy. Only con is limited colors (red and yellow/mustard) are never in stock! Also not all colors are sold in 4pack online. Which is a bummer!!! Next best to Hobby Lobby’s Eternal Bliss and Bernat Blanket Big collections but they are a bit more pricey. Yarn holds up well
This yarn was amazing. So so very soft. I made a throw blanket for my daughter, who is expecting, to take with her to the hospital since I am not allowed by hospital rules to be there with her. So she will have the throw there to comfort her in the hospital. I used the largest crochet needle and it turned out great!
I am obsessed with chunky blankets. However, I’m not thrilled with the price tag that accompanies the chunky blankets I adore. After watching several YouTube videos, I decided to make a few of my own using this yarn. This yarn did not disappoint. The yarn is soft and easy to work with. When I encountered connections in the skein I had no worries. I actually had to make knots each time I needed to add a new skein, but once the blanket was complete I didn’t notice the knots. This yarn is very well priced. Yes, the big name craft stores sell yarn too, but it’s much more expensive. Because of this yarn’s reasonable price point, I have been able to make several blankets without busting my budget. I will continue to use this yarn to make the chunky blankets I love so much. Quality yarn at a fabulous price. I’ll definitely be purchasing more!
I use this yarn to knit chunky blankets. Eight skeins with size 50 round needles (for the extra length) make up a 40x60 piece. The yarn is uniform in texture with minimal shedding and only an occasional knot. I do wish they made it in more pastel colors. I’m glad it is available online to eliminate trips to stores for sufficient quantity.
This is the fourth batch of the Mainstays Chunky Chenille I've gotten. I appreciate the value in the multi-pack and although it would be nice to have more colors, there is a wide enough selection to meet most needs and at least it's available! Color was nice and consistent and it worked perfectly for my finger knit blanket. It's a nice rich burgundy which looked great in my mom's living room. I recommend using the burn and melt method to attach the skeins together (see YouTube), you lose much less yarn and don't have to deal with knots or lumpy sections.
I like the fact it comes in a 4 pack, the only problem I've found is that there always out of a lot of the colors or all of them. Holds up real nice. Made a comforter for my grand daughter and she loved it. Also made throws for the younger grand kids.
Completely disappointed with the quality of this yarn. I purchased for hand knitting a blanket. The actual product was thin and missing yarn all the way around. See pics. Not just one or two areas. Through the 4 skeins the yarn was completely useless. Bald on one side for about 9-12 inches and then full and back to bald. The price has compromised the quality. I expected more from a Walmart brand. Especially, a woman owned business. Hands down the worst yarn Ive ever worked with. I waited for my yarn to come in before the holidays but I cant even present this as a gift. Way too embarrassing.
