ends are plastic but appear metal, so good. Brackets are easy to bend . Seem cheap at first but actually helps with the install. Good for the money

Works but Chaotic
This looks nice and ultimately works but the knobs fall off very easily and the poles don't lock together...or at least we haven't figured out the trick. Just picture your guy up on a ladder trying to battle this curtain rod.

Bad delivery/Product.
Delivery from store with broken and missing parts. Requested na home return and was issued a certificate to take it to Fed Ex drop off. Walmart customer service was no help getting replacement.
