When I got the strainer I didn't expect it to be so very sturdy. So well made. I need a solid strainer for daily use. Pasta, indian dishes and just washing greens n veggies. The handle is well made and strainer itself is made of good quality stuff. Well worth it. 5 stars!!
This strainer is just the right size to fit nicely in a dual sink. It's also light enough, and not awkward, to hold while emptying spaghetti or veggies etc. The rubber wrapped handle also made it easy to hold for grip and temp. It was easy to clean too!
The Silicone Grips set this Mainstays Strainer ahead of the pack. I can hang it across the larger basin of my double sink, or over a bowl without a budge. -- About the mesh: The sturdy, SINGLE fine mesh is firmly attached, so I don't anticipate any separation issues. I rinsed 9 medium tomatoes all at once, with no problems. (Double mesh is tempting, but it's really hard to clean). . The mesh is fine enough to sift dry baking ingredients. I can finally rinse quinoa. I rinse big bowls of lettuce, wash fruits and veg, drain macaroni and cans of beans, and strain fresh squeezed juice .. I also keep another, over the sink to strain food waste. If I hand wash dishes, I pour the water out of the dish pan over the strainer to keep the drain clog free. Really useful! I've wasted a good deal of money on strainers. VERY happy to find these by Mainstays. BIG and sturdy for a great price.
Great strainer for the finer particles you don't want getting through. Great for grapes, strawberries, and other fruits or veggies you want to wash. Draining pasta, sifting flour and more are all a breeze. The grips are a great part of the strainer and the overall quality definitely exceeds my expectations.
This is one of the best strainers I have ever used it is fantastic and can be put into the dishwasher. I cannot believe I found it. You have wonderful at Walmart. Thank you, Mary
Works just like I need it too. I use it for rinsing quinoa and the mess is small enough it doesn't get caught inside the holes. Looks just like advertised.
My strainer died after about 25 years of use the mesh separated from the handle. I'm very pleased with my new one! It's the perfect size and seems sturdy.
I love the Mainstays fine mesh strainer. I use it for straining broth, rice, even vegtables. Easily cleaned in the dishwasher and hangs in my pantry.
I love the size of this strainer. I have been looking for one with which to strain my chicken soup after it has cooked in the pressure cooker. This strainer has a long handle, so I do not have to worry about getting burned. Plus, it has a soft silicone handle. I like the piece on the other side of the strainer that can sit on the edge of a bowl or pot. I can set it over a pot and strain my soup. It is easy to clean up when I am done. The strainer has a fine weave which is perfect for catching everything. This was just what I needed. This is a quality strainer. It is sturdy and well-made. I like that the handle is red (my favorite color). This is a helpful kitchen tool.
I wouldn't give the strainer itself a bad review. Just Walmart. The strainer would have been fine. Who ever packaged the strainer should be fired. It's a mesh strainer. It should have arrived in a box with that plastic air pillows or something. No, this arrived in a freaking envelope. No joke, a freaking envelope!! It was completely flattened. And it's not like this happened it transit. The only way the strainer would have fit in the envelope would have been to flatten it first. I unmashed it the best I could because it was only $10 and (1) it would have been a bigger hassle to try and get a refund or an exchange and (2) I'm not about to spend more money on the same product not for it to arrive in the same condition. I'm posting a pic of the strainer after I fixed it as best I could. But, I don't think I'll ever buy anything from Walmart that wouldn't already be packaged in a box prior to mailing out.
