The yarn is a great value for the price. It's not quite as soft as brands like Burnette or loops and threads, but it is still soft. I like that it is very thick on the string. Unlike some other Chanel yarns wear, there is breakage on that strand, this yarn is substantial enough that that is not a problem. I also like that it's a company run by women.
i am not a big chenille yarn fan because in the past it seems when i tried some it could unravl and break easily sice it was spun on an inner thread. this Walmart brand is the 💣!! no fraying, the strand is super strong and the thickness was consistent. I will be buying more in the future.
I love to crochet; it's one of my favorite pastimes. I've had to start using primarily blanket yarn, as my sight isn't what it used to be, nor is my dexterity. I've been using Bernat blanket yarn since it came to market, but it's become pretty expensive. About a year or so ago, I started using Mainstay blanket yarn. At the time, there weren't many colors available, at least locally, so I purchased mostly white and black yarn. They have since added more colors, which makes me very happy as I can save more money on yarn. When you buy lots of yarn, price is everything. My experience has been that Mainstay yarn offers the bulk, softness, and durability of Bernat yarn. In the photo below, these are two squares of a blanket I'm crocheting. The maroonish and white colors are the Mainstay yarns. The variegated yarn is Bernat. I'm using another skein in a pale pink from Mainstay, it's just not shown in this photo. I am grateful for Mainstay yarn; it saves me money, and nowadays, that's imperative to my wallet. Now they just need to add more colors, including variegated ones, and I won't need any other brand of yarn. If you are an avid crocheter or knitter, I encourage you to try Mainstay yarns, they provide the substance and cost you less.
I was actually surprised and very much like this yarn. I have not noticed and shedding. When I had to frog a portion of it, I didn't have any problem at all and all and no shedding. The yarn stays in tact very well. Has a soft feel and crochets well. I like it as well as I do any of the other ones I have used. Plus it's local and I don't have to order it or drive an hour to get it. I have bought several of the colors and like them all very much and will keep buying them. You get a lot for the money. I have to give it 5 stars all the way around. I have no complaints at all. I do wish they had one that was a 4 weight also.
I like it as well as I do the higher end yarns like this. I also like that it's local and I don't have to drive an hour to get it. Only two things I think they could do. 1.) have a bigger selection of colors to choose from 2.) have one size down from this one for projects that I need a smaller yarn for. Also It frogs well and VERY minimum shedding and strong. I have to pull on it pretty hard for it to break. I was very surprised at how well this yarn holds up compared to the other brands. Actually better than most others. If it had more color choices and a size smaller than this one, I would probably use this 98% of the time.
I can always rely on this yarn for color and quality when doing my knitting projects. I use this to make washcloths for the kitchen and they wash up beautiful. You can save a lot of money on sponges and other things by knitting a square of yarn to use for cleaning up the kitchen. I also make dish towels but wiping my hands and save on the paper towels.
I just started to learn how to crochet. I love this yarn. Wish it was a little cheaper though, because it takes a lot to make a large blanket, but the quality was very good.
This yarn is just as soft, colors are as vibrant, %26 just as easy to work with, as the more expensive chenille yarns. I'm very pleased %26 will definitely buy it again!
I love this yarn! The slight stiffness allows for perfect stitch definition. You can't beat the value. Also, I haven't had to worry about extreme differences in dye lots as I did with another popular blanket yarn. More colors please!
The color was, for want of a better term, a bit muddy. It didn't work with any of my other pinks. Also, it was not as soft, in my opinion, as Bernat or Primiere. I just bought this from Walmart as a test to compare it to the regular brands I'm used to buying. Unless it's a much better price, I might buy colors I use a lot, such as black, grey, and white, to pair with softer textured colors with the Walmart yarn composing no more than 10% of the scart, blanket, whatever.
