Mainstays Kitchen Trash Can, 7.6 Gallon Plastic Garbage Bin with Touch Top Lid, Black

I have to have these kinds of trash cans because we have a dog who loves to empty trash cans :) Even with the electric/battery operated ones, she can hover over the top til the lid opens......So I don't purchase these because they are attractive.....I purchase these because they are practical and they work.....so far I have 2 and will probably have to buy more at some point........I would not hesitate to recommend them........especially if someone has the same problems we do.......they are easy to change bags and to clean, but most of all.....THEY WORK!

I actually use this for my kitchen. I prefer the smaller size because I can throw it away every night. I was beginning to have problems with garbage smells over night and not wanting to waste the bags.. But I will tell you and I may take a star off this is to short to sit on your floor in my opinion. I have a catch all in my kitchen that I put it on but for the average adult standing up I think this would be to small to sit on the floor. But again this is no biggie for me because I wanted a smaller can. It is not as small as a bathroom can and not as big as a kitchen can. It's in the middle. The lid lifts by touching a button. I feel like it is more sanitary to be able to life the lid without touching the can. Since the bags are smaller and their price reflects that I don't feel like I'm wasting a bag when I throw them out every night.

we use this trash can specifically for our dog waste. our dog is fairly large and has a very healthy GI system so a small trash can was not big enough (woof!). it stays outside right next to our trash and recycling bins and then we're able to easily tie up our bag and throw it into the main trash bag when it's pickup day. highly recommend for people that need a solution for that.

This little trash can is exactly what I needed for my space. It's sturdy, the lid works smoothly, and it fits standard 8-gallon bags perfectly. I keep one in my bedroom and another in the kitchen, and they look neat without taking up too much room. Great quality for the price!

This is a good little trash can. By no means heavy duty! The lid is extremely thin and light weight. The opening springs are very weak and just barely crack the lid open upon pushing the release. You still have to reach and lift the lid. Overall, it is a nice size and takes the 13 gallon trash bags.

I bought this to hold a forty pound bag of birdseed; it's perfect for that. The lid fits nice and securely so I don't have to worry about bugs getting in. However, the lid does not pop open as it's supposed to; I think the spring isn't strong enough. If it wasn't for that, this would be five stars.

Works for ME. Bought 2. 1 for dirty and 1 for clean gloves and rags for the garage. I do wish the design incorporated some sort of top retainer like the lid has to lock the top to the bin. The top won't slide off but it isn't a press fit that holds on. So if your dog knocks this can over the LID will be closed but the top will fall off and all your trash will be on the floor. lol

I was looking forward to using this trash can. The trash can's lid doesn't has a nice appearance.The size was what I needed, %26 the type of lid was another feature that was needed for it's purpose. Unfortunately, the lid doesn't work → There are 2 metal/wire type hinges that attach the lid to its frame; these are what should allow the lid to open/“pop up” when the button is pressed. One hinge is installed incorrectly, so the lid doesn't open when the button is pushed. :-( I am very disappointed with the trash can. ….HOWEVER, I am extremely pleased with Walmart. I had ordered this through the Walmart app, so I used the app to report the problem %26 request a refund. The process was easy %26 efficient. I was pleased with the response.

Bought two of these after moving into a new house, both broke within two weeks. On one can, the lid won't open just by pressing the button; the lid had to be manually lifted with the button pressed. On the other can, upon opening one day the spring lift mechanism dislodged and shot out of the can, so it too must be opened manually.

Cheaply made. The "pop up" lid popped up once (before putting it on the bottom) and then would not "pop up" again after the two parts were put together (just putting the lid on the trash can). The lid on my old Hefty trash can (also purchased at Walmart) eventually wore out after about 8 years. I won't buy this brand again.
