In Hawaii, if I leave rice on the shelf for more than a few months, when I go to use it, there are little black bugs in the rice. This also happens with cereals and pasta. [I live 15 feet away from a major construction project and as they dig, grade, dump new soil, and do other prep work, my apartment gets all kinds of bugs flying through the windows or crawling under the screen door.] HOWEVER, when I put the dry food in one of these containers, it remains bug free and lasts WAY longer than the shelf-life of the boxed food. I have had TWO of these in this size and ONE in half this size for ALMOST FOUR YEARS. They still work great. Unfortunately, the item has been out of stock for years here in Hawaii. I was so excited to see that it was available that I snapped another one up. They are exceptionally easy to use and work great for cereal, grains, flours, meals, and similar materials' storage. I only wish they had smaller sizes available.

I bought this for wildlife feed; one for fruit and nut birdseed/mealworms and the other for whole peanuts. The containers are pretty large and spouts are wide. Perfect for wildlife food, chicken food, pet foods, and of course the other items listed they are used for with human consumption (cereal, rice, etc.) Very durable, with a lock in place insert for the spout, so it can be removed to suit other needs. If you are a birdnerd and want to keep pests or chipmunk rabble rousers out of your feed, this is for you! Make the rabble rousers wait until the meal bell rings! ;)

took in someones cat while they moved, and the cat came with this container full of food. the cat and container went back to their owner. i missed both. i went and bought one to store dry laundry detergent. has a removable insert with pour spout. perfect size and price for my detergent. unfortunately too tall for shelf above washing machine tho, but fits another shelf nearbye.

I love the large size of this. I was able to add two 5 lb bags of flour to it and it's still only about half full. I bake holy bread every week and go through a lot of flour so I wanted something to store it in that was airtight and would fit in my smaller pantry. This is perfect.

I do like this container, however if you are looking for an air tight seal...this is not the one. I use these for my cat food storage. One of my 2 cats easily takes the lid off so I have had to cut the extra plastic around the edges to make it more challenging, but if he is being a brat he still gets it off. Also, it keeps the ants and critters at bay but since there is no "seal" ants and smaller critters can still gain access to the delicious morsels within.

The size is HUGE! Bigger than anything you’re imagining. I was so excited when it arrived but that immediately fizzled once I saw the how both lid pieces fit. Very cheaply made. It looked loose like the kids would come off easily. And that’s exactly what happened. 3min after filling it 3/4 of the way, I went to grab it and bc it’s big and now a bit heavy, it was at a slight angled and the lid popped right off and I lost about half of what was in there all over everything!! Took me 45min to sweep up every tiny normal from my entire kitchen floor! LIVID, the lid didn’t even TRY to stay on, it hardly sealed. In fact it really almost has no seal. Nothing tight that you would expect for a container holding 46cups. It was sprinkles in my case and how heavy do you think sprinkles are. So I was immediately turned off and regretted my purchase at least by 3/4. What’s this even worth of you dont have a tightly sealed lid that is air tight shut to keep 46 cups of food fresh and you have to hold this HEAVY ginormous filled container up very straight or else risk half of it falling right out. Don’t get me started on the inner piece that is very flimsy. A set up for failure as you go to pour something out the spout and that lid also likely will fall off. I margined that immediately after see it out the box and so I didn’t tempt to pour anything. But again the actual lid got me anyway. SMH - Very Nice sturdy body but POOR LID DESIGN.

lid is definitely not airtight. I'm in the south, I was going to use it to store my dry cat food near the door so when I go outside it's right there to feed the stray cats. not a chance I'm using this, the ants will be all over it. cheap quality, don't buy

LOUSY for food storage, great for craft storage which is what I am using them for. I've bought over 30, not one lid fits or seals...but for storing craft stuff they are excellent.

I ordered 7 of these since I needed them for bulk pantry storage ( flours, sugars, rice, grains etc) . The quality is subpar : the container itself is fine; however, the lids arrived warped and do not seal. I've tried making these work and no matter what I try the lids do not completely seal or stay closed which ruined my sugar, all purpose flour , cake flour , bread flour , powdered sugar and rice . I wish I had tested one out first before buying so many , unfortunately now I am stuck with them . If you are looking for a good quality seal for long term bulk storage, do not buy these.
