Mainstays Soft Grip 4 Sided 9in Grater

I could not wait to receive this Mainstays Soft Grip 9" Grater , I had one almost exact to this one for close to 40 yrs. and it was lost during my kitchen remolding never to be found. I absolutely LOVE this Grater it will grate just about anything , cheese, fruit, veggies, etc.. This is an absolute staple in my kitchen and I have looked for one like this for quite a while and finally I have one now. It's the perfect size for shredding fruits for bread as I use it for most of all and also shredding cheese from a brick instead of buying the pre-shredded in a bag I like to shred my own. This grater will do the job and it's multi purpose with 4 different grater/ shredder sides on it and they all work wonderfully. The only improvement over my old one is the handle which is super great , it is made of a plastic / rubber and so easy to grip and easier on your hand if you're grating a lot at a time. I's easy to clean with soap and water. I can't write enough about this awesome grater just like the one I owned for many years , this is an original old fashion grater with some improvements and it's a full size grater. I would recommend this grater to anyone that cooks or bakes , it's a kitchen must have. Pictures are not very well as the grater is so shiny it was difficult to get a good pic.

I find that to preserve the quality of the grater, that it is best to hand wash the product only. This grater is built with four sides for maximum efficiency and versatility. The teardrop shaped, extra coarse holes are used for shredding cheese into larger pieces while the medium ribbon holes are for shredding cheese into finer pieces. Additionally, the slicer is great for vegetables and the side with the outward protruding holes is used for fine grating. I must say that the Mainstays Soft Grip 9in Grater is a great addition to my kitchen. I would definitely recommend this product.

This feels sturdy and fairly well made so it should last awhile if it's taken care of. These style of graters have three different size or gauges of grater on each side with a fourth side designed for slicing. This is perfect for someone just starting out or living in cramped quarters like going off to college. It'll substitute for three graters and a mandolin but save room. It'll also fill in for a fast cheese grater when you don't want the hassle of breaking down your food processor to clean it.

Mainstay strives to have good quality products at reasonable prices. My old grater that I've had for 10 years just broke and I wanted to get one with a soft grip handle, so I decided on a Mainstays since I've found over the years that they have consistently good products even over higher-priced brands. I use a grater a lot, about 3 times per week, so I was hoping to get a good one. I didn't want the flat hand held type because it's akward to balance while trying to grate cheese, and I wanted a large size. This grater is nine inches tall which enables you to have longer shreds of cheese. There are 4 sides: average shred, one for slices, and two for finer grates of harder cheese like Parmesan or Romano. The most important thing is that the grating holes are sharp enough to be effective and these work fine. My old grater was a pyramid shape which made it difficult to wash deep inside the neck, but the Mainstays is a rectangular shape and roomy enough to get your hand inside for a good cleaning. It looks rugged enough to last a long time so I'm looking forward to many years of happy grating.

I have been needing a new stand-up grater for awhile now and came across the Mainstays Soft Grip 9 inch Grater through the Spark Reviewer Program. To test this product, I decided to make my favorite shredded potato pancakes. I am so impressed with the sharpness of this gadget! Wow, the potatoes shredded with ease within seconds. I hardly had to apply any pressure to get good shredding results. The whole process was so easy and quick. I also LOVE the design of this grater! The rubberized handle on top of the grater, along with the cushioned rubberized bottom corners, made holding the grater so comfortable! To test further, I also shredded Cheddar & Mozzarella Cheese for pizza and tacos, and had the same great results. The cheese came out beautifully without turning mushy; just nice, and defined shredded cheese texture. For cleanup, I elected to hand-wash it, and it was a breeze to clean. Since it's made from stainless steel, I am sure it's also dish washer safe. Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of this grater and look forward to using it for many years to come. I highly recommend it!

This mainstays soft grip 9 in grater is awesome. It has a black rubber grip and very easy to hold on to and handle. It also has rubber tips that helps hold it in place. It has four different grate options. You can slice, and also do a large, medium and small shred. This is very nice and handy to have around. You can also hang it up side down and hang a dish towel on it to make a absolutely adorable Farmhouse decoration. I love this and you will not regret this purchase. It is very versatile. It is also great for cucumbers and other veggies.

Most people just grab a grater when the need arises and throw it in the sink when through using it. This one offers a few more comforts than most that you'll notice immediately. First, the rubberized handle on top is nice - especially if you are "grating in air" without a surface below (like adding carrots to a salad as a finishing touch). This grater also has some small hidden "rubber feet" on the bottom. These are wonderful on a slippery surface. It keeps the grater steady and in place. Last but not least, it is sharp! Be careful while grating and watch those fingers! It makes quick work of carrots, cheese and potatoes.

This is a basic grater that will get the job done at an affordable price.I have used with many different things such as cabbage,lettuce,block cheese etc and it has completed the job perfectly.The grip handle is really nice as well as the small four grips at the bottom of the grater that will keep it in place so you don't have to worry of spills or making a mess.Great to get the job done as well as a nice price.

I've not had a grater for a little while, so, I was happy to receive the Mainstays Soft Grip 9in Grater as a Spark Reviewer. This is a typical box type grater that has four sides: regular cheese grater, hard cheese grater, zester, and slicer. This is quite light weight and the grating and slicing “blades" are not too sharp. So, it can be handled without fear of cutting one's self. Granted, it can grate other foods besides cheese; like cabbage and potatoes. It does a good job on cheese. I prefer fresh grated cheese over the pre-grated cheese in the store. It melts better. This grater has a soft covering over the handle, which makes it easier to hold, and each corner has the same soft, rubbery covering, which helps hold the grater in place while grating. The one drawback to a box grater is it may be harder to store in a small kitchen. However, if you have room, this is a nice grater. I've only had it for a day. But, it seems like it'll hold up nicely, although the metal it's made of is thin. Another way this grater can be used is in a craft. I've seen them used in several crafts. I feel this grater can be quite useful and I recommend it.

Half of one full size of the grater was covered with the mainstays sticker. By the time I was able to get the sticker off ( had to end up using a chemical remover) the finish on the grater was ruined. It rusted immediately after. The one use was as good as any other inexpensive grater. However given I only got 1 use from it this grater became the most expensive there is.
