These Mainstays solar pathway lights are of a better quality than others because they are made of less plastic. The clear part of the light is glass and the initial part of the post below is made of metal. The bottom part of the light which goes into the ground is a plastic stake. The light with 5 lumens is plenty bright enough for a pathway or garden, in my case. The lights worked great when I first received them. There is a tab to pull off the batteries to activate them. The lights are made of three parts that need to be assembled to make the light stake so it's super easy. Do be careful pushing them into the ground & make a hole with something else if the ground is hard. These lights have replaceable & rechargeable batteries for hopefully a long life to these solar pathway lights. The light is attractive yet simple and I would recommend these because of the more durable materials they are made of (more glass, less plastic).
Let me start by saying that I did receive these free for my honest review. Having gotten that out of the way, these are wonderful and I will purchase more! I worried at first that they wouldn't be bright enough or last long but I was wrong. The day I set them up it ended up raining part of the afternoon but they had enough juice to work that night. One of them had a scratch on the solar panel and it didn't last as long as the other one so I figured it was a dud. Wrong again! The next night they were both still on and bright enough to see the step up to my porch at midnight! We live in the Deep South so we don't leave outside lights on at night because of the bugs; there hasn't been a night since (even on days when it is rainy and overcast) that they haven't lasted to my kids curfew. Also since installing these I haven't tripped on that step up when coming in after dark, I'm over the moon!
These pathway lights are so easy to install and so cute! They aren't super bright but if you get a good amount of them they can light up your walk way very well. The installation was simple and quick!
My neighbor has such a beautiful yard and what makes it so gorgeous is how it looks at night. He has solar powered pathway lights lining the walkway to his front door. It looks so calming there that I started thinking about getting some for my yard. I saw some at a dollar type store but didn't know if price mattered with that type of product so I didn't buy them. When I got these solar powered pathway lights, it took some time to decide where to put them in my yard since I only got two. Not enough to line the walkway but fortunately they worked well for lighting up our new flower bed. When I got the lights I was somewhat confused at what to do with them as far as getting them to work because they came without any instructions. I didn't even know that the spike was hidden in the piping of the light until I looked at the picture on the website again. I also did not know that there is a battery compartment that needed the tape pulled away to activate the light. There is also plastic sticking out of the bottom of the solar panel but I don't know how to get to it and remove it or know if it is supposed to be there. A little bit of instruction would go a long way for those of us who have never used them. They look nice and I plan to get more as time goes on.
I ordered these to light up a statue in the front of the house. When you get the package remember that the spike is inverted inside the tube and put it back in. It comes out easily and you just have to flip i and put it back in. The bulb is tiny and hangs underneath the solar panel. Make sure it is exposed to plenty of sunshine. I cannot tell you how long the batteries last. It appears to operate just like the other Solar powered pathway lights work.
These pathway lights are great quality and value. They have a nice heavy weight with a thick, clear acrylic surround for the lights. They are a dark bronze/black color with a removable stem that's sturdy enough to get in the ground. The solar feature is awesome and I suspect that they will last a while. Great product that I'll be buying more of.
I like the warm ambient light these give instead of the bright white lights. I used these in the back yard near our patio and they give off just enough light you can see around you without being blinded. They seem to hold a long charge time as long as you give them plenty of direct sun light for most of the day or it's not cloudy. They are a touch smaller than my other ones but they're perfect where I placed them. I give these a firm thumbs up.
In the desert heat of 110F in the summers, these have lasted for about 2 years previously. They're rather inexpensive to replace as well. They weather well (at least in the extreme heat for 2 summers), and they do the job well. Although it is only 5 lumens, they are rather pretty as garden/vegetable garden lights. As path lights though, they aren't bright enough for me. It works well as dimly lit path light only if the surrounding area is bright (like street lights and neighbor's homes or even a bright front porch light), but my front of the house blocks all the other light. So depending on where we put it, 5 lumens isn't always enough. I certainly don't put these in the front of my house anymore. I put these in my garden more as decoration rather than for functional – and they are perfect. The way it gently lights up my garden beds are beautiful at night. Sitting in the garden with these pathway lights in the vegetable garden is charming and soothing. The lights do feel a bit flimsy, but the same exact ones I had held up well for 2 years in heat, wind, and rain.
very durable and attractive. The lights are bright enough to light up a walkway if spaced apart correctly. I out mine about 5'-0 apart. Very well made.
Received 2 not a 6 pack, put them in the back of my house for nightscape lightning and it looks great! These have solar panel on top and a 1.2V rechargable AA battery in side. Sturdy post with a ground stake makes it a solid light.
