i have a handicapped ramp outfront to help me get into my house . trying to figure out a way to light it up at night without attracting thousands of bugs has been a problem . i use these lights on walkways on other parts of my place and they worked perfict for the ramp also without attracting bugs like bright bulbs do .
Not your average garden lights as this are a bit bigger and durable. Super easy to install and assemble, plus a big one is that they are solar! You can see them on your front yard from far and they really do light up the way. I can believe the bulb is made from LED.
These lights took about 2 minutes to install. Put the stake in the ground, slide the light on the pole, which is about 6 inches, and then slide the pole on the stake and your finished. They are well made and very sturdy. No wires or plugs to worry with, since are solar powered. The globe has crackle glass and it makes the light sparkly. I love these lights and will purchase more for my drive way. They can be used anywhere you need soft light to brighten up a space.
I was honestly surprised by the size of the lights and the weight of the glass globe, yes glass. These are not your small cheap plastic path lights. The lights have a heavy glass globe that has a cracked pattern and they are quite large in size (think apple size here). I placed the light in my yard to charge and the light came on at dusk, which is expected. However, the next morning at dawn, I was very surprised to see the light still on. I will admit that we had 3 days of rain and clouds and the lights did not come on, so it seems as they have to have sunny days to work, which is understandable but a little disappointing. The class crackle pattern created a beautiful shape pattern on the pathway it is next to.
The crackle ball lights are very promising. They are about a foot high, with a black body / spike, and a semi-transparent ball with "crackle" effect with the bulb in it. The items come very cleverly packaged. To assemble, pull the spike part out of the body, and insert back in. The bulb slots on the top. There is an orange pull tab that mitigates discharge and use of the battery before use. The assembly pushes firmly into the ground. It is solid, but you do want to take care not to push from the bulb as you could break it. The lights are solar activated, so they charge during the day and illuminate automatically at night. Unfortunately, the light is very dim. It is hard to use them to light up a pathway. They do look good emitting a soft yellow glow, but it is very limited functionally. The solar charge also does not last a significant time, so well before dawn, many of the lights will run out of charge. To note, one of the five bulbs came non-functional.
I love the cracked glass globe, but they don’t light up. I bought 2 6packs of these, fortunately they were on end of season clearance, in September. They remained in the box in my garage until May. Put them together inside and they lit up great. I put them outside a week later and at dusk saw a few faint lights, but an hour later, nothing. Very disappointing. Called customer service and was told to change the batteries. I don’t want to buy new batteries for something I never got use from. I just wanted my money back.
I cannot stress enough how much I am disappointed with this 6-Pack of Mainstays Crackle Ball Solar Path Lights. Before getting into the negatives, let’s start with what I liked about them. These lights have nice and heavy glass globes that measure about 3 inches in diameter with an attractive crackle effect. The small solar panel that recharges the battery during the day is located inside that large glass glove (more on this later). This is a nice touch – it’s aesthetically more pleasing and may provide more weather protection for the solar panel. I like the warm glow of the light, unlike other solar lights that give off a kind of bluish light. Except for the glass globes, the lights are entirely plastic so there is no worry about rusting from being out in the elements. OK, now for the performance. The included Ni-Mh batteries were shipped fully charged, and out of box these lights stayed brightly lit all night long. They were simply gorgeous. On the second night, they only stayed lit for a couple of hours, but I chalked this up to it being a rather cloudy day and gave them the benefit of the doubt. The third day they were able to charge all day in bright Florida sunshine, but unfortunately about 10 minutes after coming on at dusk, they were completely dark. I was so disappointed. I don’t think it’s a battery problem, because I replaced the supplied batteries with some fully charged replacement Ni-Mh batteries I had on hand and got the same result over the next few days. The problem has to be with that solar charger that is hidden inside the glass globe. Either all 6 of them were defective (unlikely) or they just don’t charge as they should because they're hidden inside that beautiful glass globe. In any event, I cannot recommend this product.
I love these solar lights they work for 3 days unfortunately they stop working And I am gonna have to return them my bought 2 boxes and none of them work
I love the look of the Mainstays solar powered black finish crackle path lights, but they did not work properly. I followed the directions, but they would not provide light after being charged for many hours in direct sunlight except for a few minutes.
These lights are beautiful. Too bad they do not work. I placed them in a location that receives 8-10 hours of full sun daily. The first night they came on and lasted the entire night. After that one by one they stopped working. I do not think that the batteries are bad as they worked straight out of the box. I feel it is more a design flaw as the solar panel is inside the bottom of the globe. I had to return them.
