It is a sponge to smooth your makeup.The brushes are approximately 5.5" in length, some are longer and double sided. These are not professional makeup brushes, but, they hold up well, they blend, line, highlight, all that you would expect a brush tool kit to do. Some people have reported that the "neck" of the brushes is loose on some of the brushes. I have not found that to be the case. If they ever do become loose, I will do what I do with my professional art brushes. I take a pair of pliers and 'crimp' around the metal eck to tighten it against the stick part of the brush.Included with the brush set is a card with a description of what each piece issued for. For the price and quantity of tools, I would recommend this product.

I honestly thought just by looking at these brushes when they arrived that I had made a bad purchase. However when I tried them I was blown away. They are better than any brush I've tried.

These are great for someone who doesn't want to spend a fortune. I love these brushes. They're easy to use and you get a great variety.

Waste of money. Super small brushes, terrible quality bristles fell out in the packaging before they were even used.

the brushes fell apart and they felt very cheap. i would show a pic but some of them managed to get thrown away. overall, they are NOT worth the purchase
