This senior, Senior is going to lavish praises on this pot pie 'cause it's my fav! Yep, i'll even pay the little extra for the brand. Doesn't mean I won't doctor it up to satisfy my meal flavor likings. Yeah, after following the cooking directions and, just before it done i'll brush some butter on the top of the crust to make it more flavorful and crusty. And, wait for this, when done, pop it upside down into a bowl where you can add extra veggies or those you like that are not in it. Such as: Mushrooms or potatoes or extra peas. I usuall heat them a bit in the microwave then toss 'em in and stir 'em in. .
we really love the Marie callender's chicken pot pies. I do recommend these for a fast meal. almost taste like homemade. I do wish they would bring the CHICKEN AND MUSHROOM kind back. I have not looked in the store but have not been able to find them online.
In my opinion, Marie Callender makes the best chicken pot pie on the market. I try to have at least one or two in my freezer so when I'm unable to prepare dinner, I can just take it from the freezer. Follow the directions from microwaving and in less than 10 minutes (five for cooking %26 five standing) I have dinner. Sometimes I add a side salad depending on how hungry I feel. This is very filling and the chicken is so tender %26 tasty. It's all white meat and it's excellent.
I eat these pies all through the winter and once in awhile during the summer (don't want to heat up the oven any more than I have to). BIG chunks of chicken, lots of carrots and peas and the gravy is worth sopping up. One hour in the oven and you have a wonderful meal. Sometimes, I include a couple slices of butter bread as a way to scoop up all the gravy. Top it off with an ice cold Dr. Pepper--you're all set.
All of Marie Callender's products! I especially like the chicken pot pies. The chicken is tender, vegetables are sweet and cooked just right, the sauce is so tasty and the crust is flakey. Put it all together and you've got lunch or dinner that's delicious and filling. No kidding, these pot pies a a great fall back for me when I'm hungry but don't want to cook a big meal. Cooked in the oven or the microwave, they are always good!
These pot pies have a delicious gravy that surround the ingredients. The chicken is chopped pressed formed but has a firm texture so I didn't mind it. It's mostly chicken and sliced carrots in gravy but it's delicious although I wish it had celery, potatoes, etc.
We started eating Marie Calender's chicken pot pies several years ago. This chicken is the only one we have loved. I buy the larger one for my husband and the small one for myself. I am not well, so getting to grab something from the freezer and stick it in the microwave is such a blessing. They absolutely taste homemade! Yes, I know that there is a lot of sodium and things they are trying to use to kill us, but it is a meal and I thank God for foods like this!
If you like chicken pot pie this product is a definite plus for your freezer. I like to pair it with grilled chicken pieces or like product. The 55 minutes bake time gives you plenty of time to prepare the rest of the meal, so you have a balanced healthy menu.
It's good, but when cooking in the microwave, the bottom remains raw, and the gravy dries up. If I cook it any longer, it will burn, and if I cook it for less time, it won't be fully cooked. The turkey pot pies don't seem to have this issue. The chicken pot pies need more gravy.
If adding big chunks of rubber like chicken is their idea of improving their pop pie they missed the boat. Have they not heard the old saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it. " If idea was to include more chicken to the pie why not just add more of the small pieces like old pie?
